In a move that would have seemed unthinkable two years ago, the Seattle Seahawks have officially parted ways with running back Shaun Alexander.
It was two years ago that Alexander received a big-money, long-term deal from the ‘Hawks after winning the league MVP award during a push for that contract. Injuries and ineffectiveness have marred his performances over the last two seasons.
There were rumors of his impending release in late February, and the Seahawks refused to dignify those rumors (posted right here) with a comment.
Meanwhile, they were able to line up his replacements (T.J. Duckett and Julius Jones) at a lower cost than they would have incurred if they had cut Alexander before trying to sign them.

“Ineffectiveness” is just another way of saying “softness”.
Since he signed that big deal, whenever he has “hit” the hole he has reminded me of Yogi Bear tiptoeing after a pic-a-nic basket.

Her is the funny thing about this.
He breaks the TD record
The next year LT breaks the TD record.
Lat year he was talking about how he will try to break the TD record again then gets ruined and never really comes back at full force after running at the mouth. Madden curse did a number on this guy.

Hopefully Ted Thompson, Packer GM, won’t want to pick this bum up. I remember thinking that Seattle over paid him, given that you can’t really pay big money for past service, but future impact.
One of the best photos for PFT was the one where SA is hampered by the money bags.

Alexander is officially the Derrick Coleman ($80 million from the 76ers) of the NFL - i.e. player who gets a boat-load of money and then loses all interest in playing his sport.
