The hot streak of GCobb.com when it comes to Eagles football is officially over.
A day after the site, run by former Eagles player Gary Cobb, said that Eagles radio analyst Mike Quick predicted that the team will make a major move at receiver this week, which GCobb.com interpreted to be an effort to acquire receiver Roy Williams from the Lions, Quick backpeddled faster than Deion Sanders on a running play.
Quick tells the Philadelphia Daily News that he has no inside information in this regard, and that he merely has a feeling that the team will do something to answer quarterback Donovan McNabb’s call for playmakers.
The problem is that Cobb’s site blew Quick’s prediction out of proportion, even adding in the Cowboys and Redskins as teams engaged in a bidding war for Williams.
It’s simply not the case.
With all that said, we’ve got a feeling that the Eagles will make a play for Cardinals wideout Anquan Boldin.

Hmm… a rumor in the works? I got a laugh out of this, at least. It would be nice, but as an Eagle fan, I won’t get my hopes up.

Even with the bone-headed call by Quick aside, the Eagles will still be majors players in the draft and the days leading up to it. With 11 draft picks and Sheppard as trade bait how could they not be! That being said, my hope of an established WR are dimming with each passing day. Drafting one will not help McNabb, it might help Kolb…3 years from now, but it won’t do anything to make McNabbs life any easier this year.

If you actually read Les Bowen’s piece - he says that Quick has found out that McNabb has been personally assured that they will meet his requests for a playmaker -
The Lions are saying that williams will be a lion… just like the Eagles are saying that Lito will be an Eagle - its all pastuing at this point -
Boldin would be a more than great addition, but Williams is the guy I want to see in Philly -

Lee C, I think the Eagles are gonna be full of surprises. Big Red is going to be healthy again- mentally, which means he will stop letting Mornhinweg run the team.
McNabb is goin to be healthy and sick of all the crap, which means he will stop letting Westbrook take the full load.
Defense is going to be very, surprising! Johnson is not going to let this young, fast group of linebackers and corners go to waste.
This may not be the season for a WR of stellar status traded to the Eagles, but the Eagles can get it done if everyone buys into the attitude of fighting for EVERY win. Last year was lack of heart more than talent. Conversely, the Pats were suppose to win it all, lots of talent and no heart, but instead the Giants win it all-more heart, some talent.

I’ve been hearing for a while now that the Cardinals are looking to draft a CB. Co-incidentally the Eagles have a high quality CB available in Lito Sheppard.
The Eagles were reportedly offering Sheppard as part of a package for Fitzgerald, so it only makes sense that they would once again offer Sheppard as part of a package for Boldin.
It would probably take Sheppard and a 2nd or 3rd round pick and I think you’d have a very fair trade that helps out both teams.

Cardinals trading Boldin…..this is absolute foolish talk
Boldin would be THE LAST GUY the Cardinals trade…he lives and dies Cardinal red. He’s proven he loves the team, practices at the facilities every day, teaches rooks and shows up to almost every charity event.
Eagles have a better chance of getting Peyton Manning for McSoup and Lito.

you have to remember, even though the eagles have 11 picks, none of them save for the top 2 are actually desirable. no one wants a team’s 3 5th round picks. the only moving that will be done is lito to move up to get a tackle.
they’ll probably take another tackle and a saftey in the rest of first 3 rounds. they don’t want to give away those picks. don’t look for any real trading except up about 10 spots in the first and that’s it.
plus, you can’t trade compensatory picks anyway.

It’s obvious that G Cobb is throwing things out there hoping pft.com picks it up so his website gets mentioned and receives hits. That website has NO content!
Last time I checked Mike Quick was doing the Eagles broadcasts and would have ZERO chance of knowing anything about what the Eagles are up to.
The Eagles love to attach their name to big name players so they can try and fool their rabid fan base into believing they are trying to sign these guys.
Another season of Andy Reid and Tom Heckert making personnel decisions makes me wish Reids’ kids were out of jail and they could sell me pain pills and H.

Keleagles…do you work for Spadaro or Eskin?
Face it, the Eagles were 8-8. McNabb was hurt, but if Westbrook hadn’t been at the peak of his career we were probably 4-10. we were 5-8 at one point, and then we won three useless games. We need someone who can score, plain and simple. Buying into the “team” mentality made us great between the 20s, but once we were in the redzone no one drew the double team, leaving an extra defender to roam. You can only scheme so much, sooner or later someone has to actually be, you know, GOOD. We don’t have a good receiver unless we play Detroit and NYJ.
