sorry dildov, (know spelled incorrectly, just drop the v) Cincy is the Queen City, been called that for years. Ocho Psyco is represented by Rosenwhore....how have his other clients acted. This is a situation that MUST be addressed by the Commissioner. It will not get any better until the league address this all too often situation. Wait till all the Brownie fans are faced with the same situation with KW, jr and the Michigan Mouth. It will happen. It has to stop sometime. I was brought up to believe a contract is a contract. And, BTW, the Psyco does have money problems....too many cars and too many kids

I agree sit his butt down an see how long he keeps it up. There is no doubt he is a good ball player (top 5WR), but not only is he making his self look bad but the team and his fan's. I promise if he ever plays for the bengals again he will be booed. Let him suffer sit the bench.....if he goes anywhere he will never play the same again he dont know how lucky he is to have a QB like palmer......

I don't hear too many Philly fans disagreeing with the tactic of holding onto him.

The bottom line is everytime you give into a TO or Chad Johnson you open your own team to being leveraged the same way. Chad loves to play...he's damn good. If he makes all this noise in the offseason and then came in and produced, I'd even be more impressed.

What does Chad play for though? Is it really the money after you are paid over $10m in signing bonuses in the last 5 years? I think he wants the adulation and recognition. Let him sit on the sidelines and get nothing. No Pro Bowls. No fat endorsements. No HOF '20. No Prime Time TD celebrations.

I'm sure he can keep calling into the ESPN talk shows all he wants...by the way, how's that pay?

Letting him go helps boost team moral, and clean up the image. Yes it sends a message that crying will get you what you want, but you are not giving him up for free. He will leave at free agency. Get two firsts, and trade them for Roy WIlliams or Anquan Boldin. Dont screw yourself to make a point.

I agree not to let chad go.. At some point of time a team has to stand up to these players.. you all should support cincinnati for doing this becuase you never know if your team will be next to have to deal with this problem! Once chad figures out that he isn't going anywhere, he'll start to produce agian. He will not just sit on the side line racking up fines. Once agian you all need to support cincinnati standing up to this because your team could be next...

Bottom line is there aren't that many notible prospects in the draft this year. If the Redskins give up their first rounder for a player that you know has an impressive resume in the NFL already at a position you need to fill for your team then it's worth it. All for a first rounder in this years nubbins draft, and a 3rd rounder next year. No Brainer.

Snake, a quite accurate assessment of the situation. Trading Ocho Psycho is tantamount to handing more power to Drew Rosenhaus. Mike Brown and Marvin Lewis will not be bullied, extorted or forced by any agent to act on an his (agent's) agenda. Marvin told the press yesterday that Johnson can sit out for all he cares. I applaud any owner that doesn't wilt from a situation clearly organized by a power hungry agent who wants to prove to current and future clients that he can get any NFL organization to do as he commands.

This is about money from the get-go. According to some blogs out there, Chad apparently has had some financial difficulties. ( How that could be is mind boggling). And now he needs a new signing bonus. It's is no coincidence that the Redskins were first to the table- they having an especially close relationship with Rosenhaus. Nevertheless, this rejection was heard loud and clear, and either someone exceeds that offer, or Chad sits.

It's not that the fans of the Bengals are stupid, but we are tired of being trampled over by players who gain the spotlight in our city and then cry about money.

Chad got his payday years ago, before his first contract was up. It's time that fans of all sports teams start holding their players accountable.

Perhaps this all stems out from the previous posters comment on drafting turds. Cincy got burned by that, why should we get burned on a guy that isn't in legal trouble? The franchise is right in this circumstance.

BTW, any one in Cincy down for throwing a retirement party for Chad at $20 a pop and then donating the money raised for a charity? I couldn't think of a better way to send a clear message to Chad. We're giving the money to people who need it, and don't cry for it.

BTW if I were a douche like Chad, I would go out and get a nagging injury, first week of Training Camp. Then it will linger and keep me out all year. I will take your roster spot, Your money, and eat up cap space. So stick that in your butt Father. Stupid Bengals fans. End up with nothing like Philly.

SO keep a disgruntled Douche for Spite? Two firsts that could add so much while freeing up big money to get a free agent in the offseason or Keep a player that embarrasses you at every turn and shows the rest of the Players how player friendly you are. What are your other players thinking. Get rid of the Crap that does not want to be there and get good guys that does. You guys brought this on yourself drafting all these turds. But if you would like to get crap for him, It falls right in line with doing business as usual. Nice to know the fans are as dumb as the Management.

I'm not saying the bengals organization hasn't made mistakes or been inept in the past but don't call them stupid for not taking this offer. Chad Johnson for a first and a third. Thats right a third that could become a first but no one here knows what needs to happen for the pick to be upgraded.

It all seems so simple but in reality there is more to consider then trading a player for some picks. There are things to consider like rosters, depth charts, team chemistry, organization policies, setting dangerous precedents, lost investment, the upcoming season, the future of the team, replacing the talent your trading. Hell the salary cap alone raises the issues of cap hits, paying replacement players, paying the new draft picks, figuring out who to cut and the implications of those cuts on the roster.

this isn't as easy as fantasy football so don't knock an organization when you barely take into account everything they have to when making a decision as big as this one.

As previously stated by other Bengals fans, I too want to see Chad rot before we trade him.

I realize how stupid this is, but I also realize that Chad is a spoiled brat.

If Mike and Marvin make this trade they only further to perception that the Bengals are inept by trading away one of their best players and mortgaging the future of the team to do so.

In this respect I am begging Marvin and Mike to continue their stand against Ocho Psycho and make the players hold up their end of the bargain. Cardinal fans should also embrace this with Anquan Boldin. Other fans should support the Bengals for the precedent they are setting.

I think it all goes back to Paul Brown. Paul would never have allowed this to happen and Chad's career would have been over. Period. No questions about it. Keep up the hard ball.

It's probably just that Marvin Lewis was trying to keep the whole thing quiet but b/c he used to work for the Redskins he got some backlash from some guys he knows wanting to know why he was lying. So to save face he came clean and said he made an error.

Here's the simpliest solution:

1.)Let players out of their contracts anytime they want. They sigh their contracts and honor it until they feel they can get more money or finish their career with a championship team.

2.)Let Washington have no salary cap. So when a player feels like he wants to make more, he can opt out of his contract and go play for the skins.

3.) Let the Patriots continue to cheat and win every Superbowl from here to the end of time. When a play gets towards the end of his career, he can opt out of his contract to go play for the New England Cheaters so he can get his Superbowl ring before he retires.

This is a win win for everyone. The players get want they want. The cheaters keep on winning. The skins get to over pay for players. And 90% of the fans stop watching. The owners lose money. The game is run into the ground. Florio has to get a real lawyer job. And many of us actually get a life.

Problem solved.

With all that said, I am kind of surprised the skins offered so much for stinko, and I'm also surprised that cinci turned it down.

But I'm also surprise more skins fans have spoken up about not wanting him on the team.

And for those of you who want to point to TO and say stinko won't be a problem, I predict a TO meltdown this year.

If the Redskins offered a 1st and a 3rd with escalators to a 1st, you'd think the Bengals could have been able to talk a little more out of the Redskins.

If they (the Bengals) could have gotten a 1st and a 1st straight out, they'd be idiots--no matter what precedent they're trying to set--for not taking the deal. However, a 1st and a 3rd? That's not a phenomenal deal, so I can see why they would turn it down.

I still don't view that as a good deal. Spend a ton of money on a couple (possible) of first rounders...try to absorb the cap hit from trading 85...This team seems to always be faced with cap problems even with no names on defense.

As far as the rest of team, I'm sure they all know that he's an asshole and won't pay attention. He's been this way since Oregon State, no one noticed before.

This is why NONE of you run an NFL team, you are all stupid except the people who agree with me. The Bengals should not accept any offer! Period. You are all as stupid as Chad Johnson. You act like a first and third round pick is like manna from heaven. This fool should be suspended for a year by the commissioner. Bengals fans including me want to see him punished, we made him who he is and like a father we will punish him. This behavior should not and will not be tolerated. PERIOD. Can't you morons out there figure that out!

Another thing to consider, Chad Johnson is not going to retire if he doesn't get his way.

If they pass on this deal and others like it, he will start to understand how serious they are. He will still be a pain in the ass in training camp, he may even sit out some games, but eventually the urge to play and the money he will lose by not playing will drive him to get back on the field.

Randy Moss had no problem not doing anything for a few years, Chad Johnson wants to play, and he loves the spotlight to much not to play.

Ocho Psycho should STFU and put his money where his mouth is. The little brat should offer to reimburse the Bengals for the unallocated signing bonus, negating the Salary Cap hit, and trade him to the skins for *only* their first round pick.

If it doesn't happen, I'm perfectly comfortable biting my nose to spite my face and let the malcontent rot on the bench. Along the way, fine him and suspend him for conduct detrimental to the team.

So Stinko and Rosenhaus want to orchestrate a scenario whereby they become the default GM's of the team they want to leave. Well, hats off to Mike Brown for making a stand. If this BS is allowed to continue, no owner will be able to call the shots on his own team.

The Mike McKensie fiasco in Green Bay was the beginning of the end for Mike Sherman. If Sherman had had the courage of his convictions, he would have sent crybaby Mike to Clark Hinkle Field to shag punts until he came to his senses. Mishandling the McKensie case gave peabrain Javon Walker the idea for his tantrum. And it continues around the league ad nauseam. (Catch that Vox Veritas?)

The Bungals are showing the ineptitude that has kept the organization as a bottom feeder for most of recent history. With Ocho Psycho off the deep end it seems unlikely that keeping him will pay off for the Bengals when that much had been offered.

I don't know that this deal is really as great as people think. Yes the idea of getting two first rounders is nice, but what are the requirements for that pick to be bumped to a first. Do his numbers have to be in the top 10? top 5? record breaking? Without that info it is hard to say how good of a deal it is. Right now, it is a 1st and a 3rd for one of the elite receivers in the game. Being how hit and miss draft picks are (especially for the bangles), they could end up really getting nothing for him, and paying a lot because of it.

As for the comment about the other receivers getting traded for nothing, yes the teams gave them up for cheap because they were tired of them, but how stupid do the Raiders, Dolphins, and 49ers look now. And how are they doing?

I'd like to see the bangles hold their ground. It might not be good for their team (that is yet to be seen), but it would be good for the league and help to take a stand against all the players who make a big scene when they want more money even though they just signed a new contract and/or are signed for several years.

Wow. The entire organization from top to bottom is inept. For a first and 3rd I'd jump at it. They obviously have no real idea as to what it takes to run an NFL franchise. Bengals fans, if this doesn't happen for you, pray that Brown sells the damn team. If not, you have to hope, you have no future...

Shady things going on in the Bungles organization - at some point they have to swallow their pride and realize a good deal when it presents itself.

IMO, this is getting beyond ridiculous. These players ought to play out their contract and keep their mouths shut.

If the Bengals make a deal, then that just further ingrains the message into the players, fans, and agents minds that all any player has to do is voice his displeasure and he will be traded or let out of his contract.

The commissioner needs to deal with this now. If this is allowed to continue, this problem will continue to grow.

If the Bengals trade Johnson, what message does that send to the rest of the team and other teams in the league? What happens if another Bengal player wants to be traded? Do they trade that player too?

What happens to star players nearing the end of their career, who want to win a ring, but they are stuck on a franchise that hasn't had much success? Will we start seeing some of those players complain too, and wanting to be traded to a contender?

All these players have signed their collective contracts voluntarily, haven't they? Shouldn't they be bound to the contract that they have signed?

If I were the Bengals, I wouldn't trade Johnson either. At some point, some team is going to have to take a stand and not bow to a player's desire to leave the team he is currently on.

I would love to see how A.J. Smith of the Chargers would handle this situation.

As much as I'd love to see the Bengals end Chad's career by keeping him, they'd be insane to turn down this offer.

Don't you think the other 52 members of the Bengals team are about fed up with this drama which goes on and on and on? Maybe it's time for a Dr. Phil, Britney Spears-esque intervention with Ocho Cinco. What a mess this whole situation has become. And to think at one point Marvin Lewis was being considered for the head coaching position in Tampa before they hired Gruden. Glad he ended up in the Nati.

Jason Campbell is a solid franchise QB, get real. If he had weapons like Chad, then we will see the gears set in motion for the skins finally. Moss and Randall El with Cooley is all they have in the passing game. Campbell can become a better QB if he had options. Bengals need to accept this trade. It would be best for both teams.

I think you're way off about the city of Cincinnati, I would say that the majority of us would love to see him rot.

And with 2 first round picks this year, combined with the $8 million cap hit, I don't see how they would have any room...

And Houshmandzadeh needs a new contract.

I agree with you Broncoman. They got an outstanding offer on the table & they need to take it. Then this season when Ocho Stinko realizes how much he misses Carson Palmer, he can't blame anyone but himself. The one thing that sucks about this situation & others like it (Javon Walker, T.O., etc.) is that if a player doesn't wanna honor his contract then all he has to do is become a big enough distraction & magically they get what they want. It's ridiculous really, if a team decided not to pay someone who has a big contract, because they sucked this yr they can't do it. So what gives the players the right to do this or for that matter complain about not getting enough money when they in turn signed a contract & now they want more money. Just insane!

As a die hard fan of this site and Cinti resident I have to say you are wrong about most of us Cinti fans. Once the most beloved sports figure this generation, Chad is now hated so much that we want to see him suffer even if its bad for us. We don't want him traded, sets a horrible precedent for others both here and around the league. We'd rather make him play special teams or retire rather than give into him. Also the cap hit if we trade him before June 1st would cause us to have to cut several other players and lets be honest, even 2 1st rd picks sounds great, but playing the odds one will bust completely and the other will be good, but not a star like Chad. Not to mention the fact our O needs him, even if just a decoy.

I agree with the assessment made in this article. The Bengals fans want this guy gone and everyone would support this trade. Mike and Marvin are just further perpetuating the believe that they are idiots held by most Bengals fans. Yes as a fan without this trade I truly am losing hope this franchise can make it back to the playoffs

Considering the Pats got Randy Moss for a 4th and Wes Welker for a 2nd and 7th, or that the Eagles got TO for a 5th-round pick and Brandon Whiting - it's absolutely insane for the Bengals to turn this down. Once he becomes a big enough pain in the a** during training camp or the season, they'll be lucky to get even a 4th-round pick for him.
