skrijd and NoWearMan are right. Winslow never asked for a trade. He didn't even complain too much when the Team wacked his salary after he did his motor-cycle thing and almost ruined his career. You can still get on him about the (over-rated, over-hyped) Soljah incident, but he's been a pretty good addition to the Browns from an attitude standpoint.

How does Kellen Winslow get thrown into this mix? I don't recall him ever asking for a trade either.

Florio, Captain Fan, spanky, et al...

The disappointment with players wanting new deals is understandable, but it fails to account for the larger issue -- that the system of NFL salaries is completely broken. They're the only major sport without guaranteed contracts and the players take the most physical risk and beating than anyone else.

As long as owners can terminate contracts -- that they signed -- for whatever reason they want, players can -- and should -- renegotiate their deals when the market allows them to.

And as a Skins fan, much as I hated the Chad Johnson offer, I'd be pleased if they gave up those picks for Boldin. That guys is as physical a receiver as you'll ever see.

To CaptainFan...bravo...could not agree more....then we take these insane player salaries down to a common sense level...then we figure out a way to get owners to pass those saved salary dollars off to the ones that make it all possible....us, the fans. Then we'll have a resemblance of what this great game used to be like.

Nothing wrong in trying to get a raise. That said, you should respect the contract you signed and check your ego at the door (yeah right lol).

I guess i'm the only one that thinks this is getting really old. Teams need to start standing firm on this stuff and send a message to these selfish players. If i'm the Bengals or the Cards I go in front of the cameras tomorrow and say "This player will NOT be traded under any circumstance. This player is under contract and will perform to the best of his abilities and fulfill every single one of his mandatory contractual obligations. If this player does not fullfill those obligations he will be de-activated. If this player gives the impression on Sundays that he is not performing to the best of his abilities out of spite he will be de-activated. If this player chooses to continue this behavior at any future time while under contract he will be de-activated. We will hold that player's rights and this player will have sacrificed one or more years of his career".

It's time to send a real clear signal to these types of players.

ngnichols, why doesn't the cowboys trade Demarcus Ware to the Cardinals for a 1 and a 3?

I'll tell you why. He's worth more than that. Same goes for Boldin.

Jerry Jones needs to give up a 1 and a 3 and get this thing done. Arizona knows they can't afford to keep both Fitzgerald and Boldin so I don't know why they are saying "No" to a trade.

fitzgerald woulda have been better since hes younger and in my opinion, just a better receiver. but boldin is still a great receiver who could help us. i just wouldnt try to break the bank to get him. theyre supposedly not interested in reggie brown and lito so i dont see how this deal could go down. i think the eagles should keep trying to deal for chad johnson or roy williams. but the downside to this is no matter who you trade for, all the receivers are going to be looking for an extension.

as long as teams can cut a player pretty much anytime they want, then this will be their only recourse. as it should. players don't have any power so this is what they're reduced to. teams don't show loyalty so why should they? just ask jerry rice, joe montana and ronnie lot.

Sounds to me like Dallas should give up the 28th overall, a fourth this year and a fouth next year for Mr. Boldin's services. A perfect replacement for the decrepit Terry Glenn.

Let the trade talk of Boldin to Philly/Dallas/Washington/Seattle/Raiders begin. I still don't think he'll get traded this season though, so I'm not going to get too hyped about this report!

That is great news for 31 NFL teams. Boldin is one of the best there is, and any team would be ecstatic to pick him up. He is worth way more than he is being paid, and outperforms Fitz just about every game. I hope he makes a move East.

I have a secret inside sourse that told me Swoop the Eagles mascot is also unhappy with his current contract that runs through 2012. Drew Rosenhause is Swoop's agent and knows the Redskins, Dolphins and Browns organizations are all willing to pay over market value for his services(sounds like tampering to me). Apparently Joe Banner signed Swoop back in 2005 to a 7 year deal that Swoop and Rosenhause feel he has outperformed(Banner saw his talent early and locked him up). Swoop may not show up for OTA's and training camp at Lehigh if a new deal isn't worked out or if a trade can't be put together before the draft this weekend.
This is what happens when the salary cap keeps increasing at such large percentages every year.

I know a team that could use you...we wear Green, and number 81 is available...(Avant could wear any number...I could buy a "Boldin" patch to put over the "Avant" Patch that is currently over the "Owens" on the jersey...)

I just want to be the first person to mention the Eagles have to throw their hat in the mix for Boldin. There should be about 50+ Eagles comments before noon tomorrow. We may not have any championchips in 25 years in Philly, but we eat and breathe sports.

Eagles anyone?

C'mon, what are the Cardinals going to re-sign him with? They'll have two highly paid wide receivers, a starting QB who gets paid like a starting QB but plays like a back-up, and 49 stiffs.

Trade Boldin, use the picks to get younger, cheaper, and more balanced among your starting talent, and maybe you'll make the playoffs more than once every sixty years.
