New York Giants running back Brandon Jacobs, who was in line to be the every-down heir to Tiki Barber and quietly had a solid season despite injuries, has acknowledged that he underwent offseason wrist surgery.

Per the New York Daily News, Jacobs recently showed up at Madison Square Garden with his arm in a cast and sling. He said that doctors “just cleaned some stuff out,” and that he’ll “definitely” be ready for training camp.

Jacobs rushed for 1,002 yards in 2007, in only 11 games and only nine starts. He missed five games due to injury, including a Week One knee problem that knocked him out for several games. He split carries with Ahmad Bradshaw during the postseason, adding another 197 yards rushing in four games. His postseason average gain was 3.2 yards, down from a regular-season total of 5.0.
