Jason Taylor reportedly wants out of Miami and has asked politely to be traded. But will the Dolphins comply with that polite request?
It sounds like Taylor himself isn’t counting on it.
Edgar Thompson of the Palm Beach Post reports that Taylor recently told someone close to him that he plans to return to the Dolphins. It appears that Taylor would like to play elsewhere, but he’s not going to accomplish it by alienating the coaching staff, and he can live with it if his polite request is denied.
Thompson also reports that Taylor’s future will be tied to the first pick in the draft. If the Dolphins choose a player who could take Taylor’s place on the defense, such as Ohio State’s Vernon Gholston, they would likely look to trade Taylor. If they choose Michigan offensive tackle Jake Long, they would be much more likely to keep Taylor.

This entire JT rumor crap is getting on my nerves! I understand he doesnt want to stay in Miami due to the rebuilding process, but why make him suffer with the franchise tags and working cheaper than Joey Porter. And we do have a potential JT replacement in Quentin Moses who looked pretty darn good when he subbed in for JT last year. But still, JT is concerned he might loose fans?! I highly doubt it if he moves to say Jacksonville alot of fans might follow him and get a sense of relief JT could possibly get his Superbowl… I was relieved ZT went to Dallas.

I think it is a classy move by a classy guy. If the Dolphins refuse his request, he’s not going to make a stink like a certain *other* player that has a little orange on his uniform.

Mbs you are insane - a 3rd and a 5th? JT is worth a low 1 for a team that is right there but needs a player of his caliber to push them to the top. If this happens, and I think it will, it’ll be on draft day. Honestly, the Fins cannot possibly think they can rebuild in time for him to still be dominant, or still be around (remember he only has two years left on his contract). But, if they draft Offense first then he may be kept because it would weaken the defense too much. Smoke screen suggestions aside, it is looking like they’ll go defense with the first pick (still wish they could trade down but know it’s unlikely) - so JT would be expendable. The likelihood is that they already have a trade partner for him.

3rd & a 5th? Taylor is worth a high 2nd or a low 1st! With other picks.. but at this point in time a even swop maybe Urlacher for Taylor might be nice. Or send JT to Bunglesville he doesnt deservice the palm trees & south beach lifestyle.

Jason Taylor is 33 and will be 34 on September 1st. Thus, I highly doubt Miami could get a 1st or 2nd. Swapping or as FillyFinatic put it swopping Taylor for Urlacher is completely unrealistic. Taylor has maybe 4 years left, and realistically he is probably done after his contract expires in 2 years.

Let him go if he wants and be glad he isn’t a mouthy holdout, a public embarassment or a locker room problem…I’m looking in your direction Joey Porter (just like all those running backs who need a few extra yards with minimal effort).

A first round pick for JT is too much for a player with so little left on his cleats. But package JT with a lower round pick (3rd?), and the Fins could get a second first round pick. Since the Bucs and the Vikes are interested in Jared Allen, they would be obvious trading partners. Have to wonder who Parcells would like there…
