Minnesota Vikings defensive end Kenechi Udeze, diagnosed earlier this year with leukemia, already is in remission, according to the Associated Press.
He learned on Wednesday that his blood and bone marrow are cancer-free. “I just kept my faith, and here we are today,” Udeze said.
Udeze also has found a bone-marrow donor for a future transplant. It’s his older brother, Thomas Barnes.
Even though he’s still undergoing chemotherapy twice per week, Udeze isn’t ruling out a return to the field in 2008.

I wish there were more stories like this for the NFL.
This helps offset the daily arrest reports & the antics of d-bags like Chad Johnson.

Don’t overplay the news. It is great to hear, especially about as nice a guy as Keneche is, with a good family (his wife had a daughter 4 months ago) and at his young age. Treatment for acute leukemia in a young and otherwise health person usually causes it go into remission after the initial courses. The marrow transplant is then applied to try to keep it there; it is good that he has a solid donor, that brings his overall odds up.
But forget football- we want Keneche to be one of the 50% who are alive in 5 years, and not wear him down playing a game.
