Well, at least they’re not buying steroids.
Court records recently filed in connection with the case of a former Nashville police officer sentenced to prison indicate that multiple members of the Tennessee Titans purchased “high-dollar, hydroponically grown marijuana” from a local drug dealer, according to Terry McCormick of the Nashville City Paper.
Corey Cecil testified that he sold the pot to members of the team, and that some of them actually wired money into his mother’s account to pay for the drugs.
Cecil also admitted that he would “pinch out” seven grams per ounce sold to the players, and that the players didn’t know they were being shortchanged. (Um, they do now.)
Cecil was allegedly part of a scam with his uncle, former officer Ernest Cecil, where the uncle would stage phony drug busts during the transactions, the nephew would get away with the drugs and the money, and then the nephew would re-sell the drugs.
The disclosure, standing alone, isn’t enough for the NFL to act against any Titans players, especially since none of them are named. But it could be the starting point for an investigation, which could result in the league putting players into the substance abuse program. Though a positive test is the primary pathway into the program, behavior can place a player into the program as well.

If he pinched 7 grams per ounce (an ounce is about 29 grams), that would mean he was shorting them by about 25%. I’m thinking they’d know that.
Not that my oregano is ever short-changed.

At least they are buying the good stuff. None of that crap from Mexico. All the players are doing is expressing themselves and hoping to change the world. They are saying, legalize this and spend you the tax dollars on helping the poor.

FORMER Titans players from 2002-2005. Most of those players probably aren’t even on the roster anymore. Would explain a whole lot about our level of play in 2004 and 2005 though…

Crooked drug dealing cop that staged phony drug busts in order to steal money and drugs. Sounds like a REAL credible source. If I was a Titan, I wouldn’t be too worried.

You think these players are smart enough to know they were being shorted? You’re giving them way too much credit.

This story has no bones, all fluff. It could be true, but I would never take this guy at his word. Either way, the NFL should allow pot to be smoked; the United States should allow pot to be grown and sold. So basically anyone who has a problem with these people should be more upset at their lack of rights than that they broke an unjust law. You would still be able to bust this particular bonehead for scamming and I am sure tax evasion.
To make a terrible but catchy argument I have 2 words. Leonard Little. Did Travis Henry kill anyone? No, he gave life to 8 people and now supports them. Which drug is better?

Wonder if Pac Man will hold a press conference, demanding that he be compensated for all the weed he’s been short-changed over the years?

The NFL and U.S. government should seriously look at changing it’s drug policy regarding cannabis. It is not addictive, a study by UCLA last year found no connection to cancer and it is safer then both alcohol and tobacco. I think we all know that many athletes use it, Baron Davis of the NBA once said at least 90% of NBA players smoked the plant. It makes no sense as a society to keep this substance illegal when legalizing it will eliminate the street crime and the tax dollars can be spent on schools, pell grants, etc. The NFL isn’t dumb, I’m sure they aware of the rampant cannabis use and I’m sure most of the players using get off using cleaners. I just believe it’s dumb testing for it in the first place.

You base this as if they where only buying it an oz. at a time. If they are smoking with there buddies, there orders may be for several oz. at a time. Like I said earlier this week.Stay classy Tennesee.
