With receiver Cedrick Wilson long gone, Steelers wideout Nate Washington has an opportunity to enhance his standing with the team.

He’ll do so for at least the 2008 season after signing his one-year tender offer on Wednesday.  The move was announced by the team earlier today.

Washington was an undrafted free agent in 2005, and he has appeared in 33 career games, with five starts.  Unless he gets knocked down the depth chart by a rookie or a free agent to be signed later, Washington likely will be the No. 3 receiver behind Hines Ward and Santonio Holmes.

Not bad for a guy who went to college at Tiffin.
