Isn't the Saints defense crappy enough to give them many options on defensive position to draft? Stay put and get multiple selections instead of gambling on one DT.

If the Rams draft McFadden without dealing Jackson on the same day I am officially done with this team. We need help in the trenches in the WORST way. Thankfully most of what is said right before the draft is bullsh*t.

I'd be circulating that trade chart around, too. That is.. if I wanted to trade up and rape a team. 19th and 20th pick overall can net the #1 overall pick? HELLS YES I'M SURE ALL SMART GMs WOULD DO THAT!

I would be shocked if the Saints went after Dorsey rather than Ellis. Their D-Line coach, Ed Orgeron, loves his former USC recruits, Ellis and Rivers. Regardless, Coach O did put Dorsey to work (I can't remember if it was the Combine or Pro Day) and Dorsey didn't crack. Man, I cannot wait until draft day!

A 1 and 2 doesn't seem worth not getting one if not the top guy on the Rams board. We are still enough under the cap that i don't see money being an issue, so to me the Saints would have to blow us out of the water to get to 2. Jackson is in the last year of his deal, hopefully the roomers about going after McFadden are just ment to jump start contract talks.

I think the Saints are ideally looking at trading up from 5-7 to snag Ellis. I think they are looking into #2 to see what it would take, and maybe to lower the price tag of trading up for 5-7.

I also don't see the Saints packaging the 1 & 2 this year. I really think the Shockey trade will go through for our 2nd round pick.

Can't imagine the Rams would do this unless they're set on drafting an O-Lineman (for Jelly Brain Bulger) and don't see a big difference between Jake Long and Chris Williams/Branden Albert/Ryan Clady. Of course, this assumes Miami doesn't take Jake Long.

If they go O-Line, this trade would make a lot of sense.

The funny thing is, McFadden would be perfect for the Saints. Drafting him would really cripple the organization, but still.

It would make a lot more sense for the Saints to just try and trade up into the Patriots or Ravens position. The cost would be less, and they could still land either Sedrick Ellis or Keith Rivers. Baltimore could be looking to trade down if Matt Ryan is off the board, and it wouldn't surprise me to see the Patriots look to slide down the board a bit. There's a chance that all the defensive players the Saints want/need, could be off the board when the Saints pick at ten. It doesn't surprise me that they're looking to move out of that spot.

I'd expect the Saints to go after Glenn Dorsey should they get the second pick.

Aren't the Saints stacked at DE? Don't think Gholston would be a target... Dorsey is highly likely, though.

Maybe Sean Payton is having a Ditka flashback and is ready to give up all his picks for 1 guy and then they can go 3-13 too.

Mickey Loomis (GM of the Saints) and Jim Haslett (fmr coach of the saints and D coordinator of the rams) also have a lot of GOOD history. Bottom line, no way on Gholston and no way on trading Smith...that being said, Ellis/Dorsey are the only real options for us besides trading back for more picks and Jerod Mayo/best CB still there.

I love the idea of my Saints getting the best defender in this draft. But what if we offered the Bungles our 1st for Ocho??

Would that team not score 40 a game?

I love the idea because we all (saints fans) seem to agree DT is our glaring need, but there's no way we give up will smith...he's the best player on our defense. And Gholston is completely ludicrous. We do not need him at all unless we are dealing smith or grant. We will trade up for dorsey/ellis or trade back and take the best player available...that is loomis' (GM) way. I have been hearing NE at 7 so this is definitely news to me...and good news if it's true. I hate LSU but Geaux Saints!!!!!

I sent Florio a link from 790 radio down in Miami. Schefter was on with Sid today, and he also hinted that the Dolphins could be in discussions. I wonder if the Dolphins would be willing to take less than what the Rams would. Parcells and Sparano has some security, whereas Linehan and Co. may be on the line. The Rams need to hit, and that might be too far down. The Dolphins probably are more open-minded. Payton and Parcells also have a history.

While I do not like the idea of trading Will Smith (can't get rid of your best Defensive player when you are weak on Defense), I do like the idea of trying to get to Dorsey. There is a line where it becomes cost prohibitive to do so but if any player is worth investing the effort to try and move up it is Dorsey.

It is more then a week before the draft so don't believe anything you hear regarding trades or wht players a team will take. Everyone is a liar right now. Much like Mike Irvin when he said that crack pipe was his friends.
