Free-agent cornerback Duane Starks has signed a contract with the Raiders. Again.
This is the third straight season that Starks has signed with the Raiders. In 2006 he signed with the team and played three games, and in 2007 he re-signed and was briefly on the roster but never played in a game.
No terms of the latest deal have been disclosed, but he will presumably play for the veteran minimum salary. The Ravens chose Starks with the tenth pick in the 1998 draft, and in 2002 he signed a free-agent contract with the Cardinals that made him one of the league’s highest-paid cornerbacks.
In 2005 he was traded to the Patriots, but he played just seven games in New England. He has started just 14 games in the last five years.

Starks was one of the all time worst corners the Pats ever had. He should have had TORCH ME on the back of his jersey instead of his name. The Raiders must feel they didn’t give up enough TDs to the other teams last year.

This guy is like a spare tire on a car that never gets a flat. To stick with that metaphor, I hope he’s fully inflated if he ever needs to hit the field for us.

John Starks would have been a better choice

Duane cashed in on the “Greatest Defense Ever” year the Ravens had. I can’t blame the guy for taking the cash. I’d take it too, especially if I was coming of the best season of my life.

Starks must live in a closet in the Raiders facility, he’s been signed and cut for the past 3 or 4 seasons. Al pulls him out whenever he’s bored and wants to remind the media that the Raiders are still active

Curious if the Raiders first whetted the appetites of NFL owners with an “Interesting Trades Considered” advertisement. I dunno, but maybe some Hollywood memoribilia like one of Lenny P.’s used tee-shirts (I believe he did play a large, formless bounty hunter in Return of the Jedi).
