Despite indications that the Raiders might try to trade out of the No. 4 overall pick, they’re also interviewing with some of the guys who’ll likely be available if/when they use the fourth pick.
According to the San Francisco Chronicle, the Raiders will visit with defensive end/linebacker Vernon Gholston, offensive tackle Jake Long, defensive end Chris Long, and running back Darren McFadden. A visit also is expected from LSU defensive tackle Glenn Dorsey.
At least two of those guys will be available, if the Raiders use the No. 4 pick. Three could be available, if the Falcons use the third overall selection on Boston College quarterback Matt Ryan.

I’m pretty sure they’ve already met with McFadden and Gholston.

The raiders have already met with Chris Long and Darren Mcfadden. Howie Long Confirmed Chris’s visit on his interview with Dan Patrick, and D-Mac posted a blog entry about his visit, and it was reported by Jerry Mcdonald of insidethebay.com

hopefully Da Raidaz can trade down, but if not, I’m hoping for a defensive pick.

The Oakland Raiders seem dysfunctional, but with a solid draft and one year of really grinding it out, they can come to the forefront of AFC team by 2010. Maybe.

McFadden is the pick unless Howie’s boy is there.

They have to at least posture that they’re seriously going to keep the pick, in order to maximize the trade value.

PLEASE let it be Jake Long! Or even Chris Long! Just not a runner (we’ve already got several). Plus, I’m not sold on Gholston’s skills yet. He looked impressive against a pretty pathetic college schedule last year. That in no way translates to a stellar NFL performance. I’m afraid he’ll be a worse bet than Gallery, and that’s saying something.
