Michigan receiver Mario Manningham, whose draft stock has taken a huge hit of late due to a reputation for the dropsies, slow (relatively speaking) times in the 40-yard dash, alleged misrepresentations in his Scouting Combine interview regarding past marijuana use, and most recently a train wreck of an interview with Sirius NFL Radio, is scheduled to visit with the Oakland Raiders, according to David White of the San Francisco Chronicle.
But with the Raiders picking first at No. 4 and next at No. 104, Manningham would have to plummet all the way into round four before the Raiders would get a shot at him.
Unless, of course, the Raiders are plotting a possible trade down, and eyeballing prospects who might be available with some of the lower picks that they pick up.
We recently reported that the Raiders also will be meeting with Michigan State receiver Devin Thomas, who likely will be available in the second half of round one.

match made in heaven. he won’t have to worry about his hands because J’Marcus won’t ever hit them.

Manningham certainly meets the misfit portion of the Raiders’ team application. I suspect a trade down is a possibility.

Leave it to the Raiders to trade out of a top five pick so they can grab a guy with “bust” written all over him. Just float the rumor that Shanahan is interested in Manningham, and Oakland will probably just take him straight up at #4.

He’d make the perfect Raider. One, he’s a reciever who will also be trapped under the glass ceiling, and two, he wouldn’t have to change anything about himself! He could remain the same type of person and be a locker room leader.

otto, i’m with you on this. the raiders have worked out 3 db’s since mid april and signed duane starks. it looks like they need backups because they might plan on trading fabian washington AND standford routt. i think they’ll combine those picks to move up.
remember, raiders also brought in devin thomas
judging by the hater’s comments, people are getting nervous of the raiders acquiring more players. can you imagine getting mcfadden and/or devin thomas?
and if anyone wants to know which team has bad characters, just take a look at the turd watch. raiders are no where near the top. that distinction belongs to the donkeys. the donkeys are the new raiders.

Could this be a form of cruel and unusual punishment. I mean these prospects train their entire life to make it into the NFL, and for what? To get drafted by the Raiders? Nothing spells failure better than the current draft class of the Raiders. They should just bypass the draft, which in turn would give these kids a chance to succeed at their craft. Then they could afford to bring in free agent veterans that aren’t 10 years long in the tooth with 1 foot out the NFL door. They could also sign rookie free agents, since they really don’t have the expectations that come from big $$$ draft picks.

“keyster” - the only thing cruel and unusual is your inferiority complex to the nation. if the raiders talent binge and acquisition weren’t being followed up with the prospects of acquiring darren mcfadden and possibly devin thomas, you’d have no reason to chirp from your keyboard. if the raiders weren’t a factor, you’d be happy. judging by your response, you fear the raiders being a factor again. don’t you worry, your fears will become realized. maybe you envious. maybe your upset your team isn’t doing anything. maybe the fact that we’re headed for no salary cap and your team is just laying an egg in the offseason so you have to come an comment on a team where the action is happening. envy.
