Though the agent for Tennessee Titans cornerback Pacman Jones recently said that he plans to apply on Tuesday for reinstatement, Jones said on Tuesday that he’ll wait to formally request reinstatement until he is traded.
Jones made the disclosure during his second appearance on Michael Irvin’s radio show in Dallas.
During the appearance, Jones also addressed the status of trade talks between the Titans and the Cowboys. “I’m hoping it will be done this week, but that’s just agent talk,” Jones said. ”We’ll see how it goes and I’ll be tuning in and I’m going back to my house and get in front of the TV and hope it will get done today.”
Maybe Pacman will celebrate by swinging on the pole that he supposedly has installed in his home.
In our view, Jones shouldn’t apply for reinstatement at all, unless and until invited to do so by Commissioner Roger Goodell. The Commish has made it clear that he’s going to reinstate Pacman when he’s damn good and ready to do so; filing a formal request for reinstatement won’t make it any more likely that Goodell will let Jones play.
Some league insiders think that Jones will never be reinstated. But we can’t imagine the Cowboys trading for the guy without at least an inkling that he’ll get another chance to play.

I wonder if Jerry Jones is willing to trade for Pacman because his ego is so big that he thinks he can talk or bully Goodell into reinstating Pacman.

I have no idea how Goodell will reinstate someone who has screwed up time and time again while still on probation. This makes no sense

I would think Jerry has enough respect for the man fixing to take them into a tough CBA battle than to even chance getting cross with Goodell. I would think Goodell knows Jerry has a proven record with Tank, since Goodell did reinstate Tank after he was a Cowboy, that he can make a difference. It is not about killing a man’s ability to earn. It is what the mans potential for bad pub and drawing negative attention to the leauge is. If Jerry makes a strong case that he has the infrastructure (which he does with Calvin Watkins and his staff) to help a man get on the right path, then Goodell with likely let him play. But some people can not be helped. And if Pac goes back to screwing up, it is not Jerry’s fault for trying. Sure he should not be blameless, but what can you do. (Also, if this guy was not a star player, Jerry would not want him. All in the name of winning is Jerry) But if Pac screws up, it certainly and unequivocaly (hmmm) gives him all he needs to dismiss him for good.

Isn’t this great! Controversy in Dallas even before training camp starts. I really, really, really hope that JJ pisses of Goodell with this PacTurd move.

Jerry Jones very well could bully Goodell into reinstating Pacman if he so desired, but he won’t have to. There’s no reason not to reinstate Pacman as he has no more legal matters ahead of him and he’s been in compliance with all of his mandates.
As for not applying for reinstatement, it’s probably a ploy to ensure that he’s traded to the Cowboys and not another team. The moment he’s reinstated the market for Pacman would likely open considerably.

I think Pac Man is in for a rude shock. My guess is that Goodell will carry his suspension, at least through the first eight weeks of the upcoming season, if not all of it. Odell Thurman, in my opinion, was a less egregious case and he sat out all of 2007. So I wouldn’t be surprised to see Pac Man’s first game as a Cowboy in 2009.

You know what, I hope he’s reinstated. It seems like people want the guy to fail, and that’s just wrong. He’s 24, he’s got time to grow up. Haters all say the same stuff and I hope he turns his life around. Now, I don’t condone what he’s done-hitting a women is a horrible thing to do-but give the guy a chance. If Tom Brady had gone to TNA wrestling people would have just been ‘oh look at that, another thing Brady’s good at’ but since it’s Pacman everybody just hates on him. Alot of people who hate on him are just people who’ve never done anything so bad that they need a second chance, so they don’t know what it’s like. A second chance can mean alot to people, and it can help alot. If he gets turned away, he might feel given up on and he might get alot worse.

No doubt. You’d have to be a fool to think otherwise. If I’m Goodell, I’m wishing Adam Jones good luck in the CFL, and be done with this unabashed turd once-and-for-all.

Seems more like Jones doesn’t want his reinstatement turned down during trade talks. Goodell was pretty quick with his reinstatement answers, and Dallas would not be taking him if he can’t play all next year. Why blow the trade?

I think Goodell should just reinstatement Pac now. He has paid his dues and done all that he should have to do to satisfy Goodell’s edict. Enough of this trying to control this young man’s life. He deserves a chance to earn his millions playing football. He is afterall, a GREAT CB.

How many ’second chances’ do you want to give to this thug? The common man who could not afford to hire a top-dollar attorney would be rotting away in jail after doing what this clown has done.
Can I get a witness?

Guys… the commissioner works for the owners. Why are some of you expecting Goodell and Jerry Jones to butt heads over this? Fact is Pacman has a snowball’s chance in hell of being reinstated while he’s a Titan. They coddle criminals there, look at Haynesworth. Did he not try to KILL or at least disfigure a guy on the field during a game? He’s lucky that Andre Gurode didn’t pursue the charges that the local Tennessee cops were urging him to pursue. I can’t imagine what else you’re trying to do when you pull a guy’s helmet off and stomp him in the face two or three times with your metal cleats.

VegasChris, how many second chances has Goodell given him? He’s been suspended once, which would mean this would be his second chance. Plus, he didn’t pull the trigger on the guy that got paralized, and there’s no saying he even knew his buddy had a gun. I’m not denying he’s made mistakes, I’m just saying he hasn’t yet gotten that second chance to play. I know a lot of people don’t agree with me, and that’s ok, I’m just saying what I believe. I’m not going to try to argue about this because it’s too easy to hate somebody who’s done something bad and most people will just be stubborn and not even want to change their mind. Good Bye.

Ok, so I said I wasn’t going to argue about this anymore, but you’re making decent points, so I got questions for you. So what do you think of Chris Henry? Jamal Lewis? Ray Lewis? James Harrison? Tank Johnson? Bryant McKinnie? And anybody else who’s been in trouble with the law? I mean, they found bloodstains on a shirt owned by Ray Lewis plus his DNA but somehow he only got a $250,000 fine while Pacman got a season suspension and never even murdered anybody. I realize people aren’t going to agree with me but that’s fine with me. Hey VegasChris, as long as you’re willing to put a valid argument, which you’ve been doing, I have no problem trying to defend my point. I’ll be back on in a couple hours if you want to continue.

I don’t care either way, I think Pac will get in trouble again and the Roger will get rid of him then.
But, don’t drag Ray Lewis into this, that was not Roger Goodell. He has come in and drawn the line in the sand. If Ray Ray pulled that now, he would be gone too.
