As it turns out, Tony Grossi of the Cleveland Plain Dealer was partially right. The Browns will host the first regular-season game aired in 2008 by NFL Network.
Unlike past years, however, that game won’t occur on Thanksgiving. Instead, NFLN’s regular-season slate begins three weeks earlier, with the Broncos visiting the Browns.
The difference? The Saturday night games are gone this year, with the exception of a December 20 game between the Ravens and the Cowboys.
For NFLN, the end result is more games during the coveted ratings sweeps month of November.

Why can’t they show the Denver-Cleveland game where Matt Bahr kicked a 48 yard FG as time expired in ‘89?
Oh, that’s right. It was only regular season.
For every Drive and Fumble “highlight”, they should show Dennis Smith getting burned by Jerry Rice or Timmy Smith.

Bleedsorangeandbrown, what they should really have is a network that shows the great Cleveland flops 24 hours a day. The Drive, The Fumble, Red Right, one glorious moment after another. Call it the CCN, the Cleveland Chokes Network. I know I’d be watching!

Last year, Congress leaned on the NFL for the simulcast. Why wouldn’t this impact games played on NFLN this year? It seems strange for the precedent to be set for a big game when the reality is that they are all big games.
Of course, my preference would be for cable companies (comcast) to get it together and include NFLN in the basic package.

probably because the cable and or/sat companies also have sports channels and thus are in competition with the nfl too? time warner/comcast/dir tv murdoch foxsportsnet, etc.
