It’s two hours until the sheet is pulled off the 2008 schedule, and the leaks continue.
One comes from Eagles’ web guy Dave Spadaro, who writes of rumors that Philly will host a game on Thanksgiving night.
Based on a recent report from Tony Grossi of the Cleveland Plain Dealer, who wrote on April 1 that the Browns will play on Thanksgiving night, and given the fact that the Browns and Eagles are due to play this year in Philadelphia, it looks like the Turky Night game will be Cleveland at Philly.
The Browns lead the all-time series, 31-14, with one tie. The Eagles last defeated the Browns in Philadelphia in 1967, and the Browns have since won four straight there, with the last win coming in 1994.
If, of course, we pretend that the pre-1999 Browns are really the post-1999 Browns, and not the Baltimore Ravens.

I hope the Eagles get to host the Thanksgiving game, but all of this speculating is so gay.
I guess the NFL loves the schedule speculation and the draft speculation because it keeps everyone talking about the league, but I wouldn’t lose any sleep if the schedule announcement wasn’t today.

I really don’t know why people outside of Ohio pretend as if the current Browns franchise is the same as the old Browns franchise. I know why people in Ohio do–b/c Modell stole the team from them. But the old Browns are now the Baltimore Ravens. I watched a game last season and the network put up a graphic showing that Jamal Lewis was just short of a franchise record set by Jim Brown. What?! That franchise is in Baltimore now.

Well now I don’t know what the graph was for. But since Jamal Lewis was playing for Cleveland last year it is possible that he could be short of a Brown’s season record. None, zero, nada of the Browns records were transferred to Baltimore. Anyone who argues differently is ignorant of the facts

That’s a real asshole comment, guy. Someone in Cleveland wrong you in some way? The Browns’ history and tradition was left behind by Modell. No pretending necessary; it was done formally, and cheap shots like that don’t speak very well of you.
That said, as a Philadelphia resident, I guess I know where I’ll be on Turkey Day.

Last I checked the team in Baltimore was called the “Ravens” and wore black and purple. The team in Cleveland is the “Browns” and wear brown and orange. Same team, same fans.

Philly deserves it. Great football atmosphere at the Linc, and the Eagles really got hooked up well schedule-wise this year.
Week 2 Monday nighter at Dallas as well? What’s not to like?

I think it’s the pride the city feels in the team that makes them the same browns. Misplaced pride, to be sure, but pride nonetheless.
