With a potential draft-day slide being greased by so-so pre-draft workouts and the inexplicable decision to lie at the Scouting Combine about whether he failed one or more drug tests while at Michigan, receiver Mario Manningham did further damage to his draft stock via a train-wreck Monday afternoon appearance on Sirius NFL Radio.
Manningham was interviewed by Adam Schein and Tim Hasselback on the Afternoon Blitz. To put it mildly, it did not go well.
A trusted media source who heard the interview explained it to us as follows: “He made a fool of himself. He hung himself. He took no responsibility to what happened in college or his error in judgment at the Combine. He was arrogant and defensive. When asked about the balls he dropped in big spots, he responded, ‘What about the ball I caught?’ . . . . He couldn’t even handle question about his agent change or why he left college early. . . . Total knucklehead.”
Last week, Manningham sent a letter to all 32 teams seeking forgiveness for his failure to tell the truth at the Combine. Perhaps he’ll now pen a follow-up letter apologizing for his appearance on Sirius NFL Radio.

I saw him touted as a potential top 10 pick just before the combine. NFLN indicates the Colts have an interest in Manningham if he slides far enough. Polian is a fascist and a bedwetter, but he’s also very gifted when it comes to identifying talent. If he snags Manningham, looking at his previous #1 picks, I’d almost have to think he’d be successful. This guy just needs to stop talking until April 28th.

What else can you expect from a kid who went to high school with Maurice Clarrett. And who knows, maybe he’ll go to the Patriots since his high school coach was Josh Mcdaniels father.

If his agent is doing his job, he told him ahead of time how to respond and how not to. I think it’s pretty safe to assume that he did considering it’s also in the agent’s best financial interest for Manningham to get top coin. So I also think it’s safe to assume that Manningham thinks he knows everything already and doesn’t listen to what he’s told. Not a good trait.

“Football is a team sport, so I gotta put the loss squarely on the shoulders of my supporting cast. Look, I’ve been carrying these guys the whole season, but I can’t do it all. I need some help.”
So your four fumbles weren’t a factor in your mind?
“Not if one of those other guys would have jumped on the ball. Again, Leon can’t do EVERYthing.”

With criminal behavior like that, he should go to the Ravens.

Yes this kid made a mistake…how old is he?? Has this probably hurt where he is drafted…probably. Every action has a consequence…we’ll see what his is soon enough, and hopefully this will only make him a better person and he learns from his mistakes. It’s amazing how quick people are to jump down these kids throats. I’m glad I’m not in their position, having everything I’ve ever done or said scrutinized, I’d be in some hot water that’s for sure! As for Rjk2131 post… there have been some pretty great players that have also come from Michigan, way to classify every player in the same category, it makes complete sense to do since they are all brothers, right? Get a clue! Does it mean that every player that came out of Virgina Tech is going to have illegal dog fights at their homes like Michael Vick?? NOT SO MUCH! Go-Pack-Go!!!
