With a potential draft-day slide being greased by so-so pre-draft workouts and the inexplicable decision to lie at the Scouting Combine about whether he failed one or more drug tests while at Michigan, receiver Mario Manningham did further damage to his draft stock via a train-wreck Monday afternoon appearance on Sirius NFL Radio.
Manningham was interviewed by Adam Schein and Tim Hasselback on the Afternoon Blitz. To put it mildly, it did not go well.
A trusted media source who heard the interview explained it to us as follows: “He made a fool of himself. He hung himself. He took no responsibility to what happened in college or his error in judgment at the Combine. He was arrogant and defensive. When asked about the balls he dropped in big spots, he responded, ‘What about the ball I caught?’ . . . . He couldn’t even handle question about his agent change or why he left college early. . . . Total knucklehead.”
Last week, Manningham sent a letter to all 32 teams seeking forgiveness for his failure to tell the truth at the Combine. Perhaps he’ll now pen a follow-up letter apologizing for his appearance on Sirius NFL Radio.

This guy has bonehead written all over. He’s an early third round pick at best now, and I can see him slide even further.

Always a good move less than 2 weeks before the draft…is it possible he will one day hope he’s as good as David Terrell?

I doubt he will fall out of the first 3 rounds. You gotta remember Malcolm Kelly may be falling faster…
Not alot of character guys at WR this year; Jackson and hardy have also had issues.

Can’t Manningham and Malcom Kelly at least wait until they are drafted and under contract to start acting like the rest of the primadonna WR’s in the NFL?

If the commish were foolish enough to invite Manningham to New York for the draft, he would be buying him a hotel room for the evening. Welcome to the 2nd day of the draft Mr. Manningham

Mario, meet your rookie minimum contract.
I think I could be a first rounder in this class just by keeping my mouth shut. What in the hell is wrong with these guys?
It is not as though Goodell, and by extension, the teams have been subtle about their intolerance for idiots. Oh, and if you have speed issues and hands issues, opening your mouth is equivalent to walking outside after World War III to see the pretty gray “snow.”
Way to piss your future away to maintain your pride (maintain it in your mind, at least).
It’s okay, just write a letter to all 32 teams telling them you slipped on a MacDonald’s bag during the interview.

Maybe thirty two teams should write him a “Thanks for the heads Up” note. As valuable as the smallest bit of information on prospective draftees is this time of year, this is a landslide of info that should benefit every team. That being said, and maybe I am just being swept along with the general din of things, he will probably be a Bronco. He could have Davis’ eye, though.

One would think the AGENTS at least would be trying to get these guys to behave. After all, the farther the guy slides in the draft, the less the agents make off the contract.
In what other job do you get to mouth off before the interview and still get the job that pays you a lot of money?

Manningham and Malcolm Kelly better get used to living off of 3rd money. Both of those idiots have cost themselves some major green in the millions.
Too bad…Buffalo could use a decent receiver too. Good thing head cases don’t fly in Buffalo. See ya in the 3rd round boys

“Core Redskin”?? It’s possible my skins draft him 3rd round but not even the great Daniel Snyder would expect much from him. If he is drafted look for him to be as effective as Brandon Lloyd…aka more millions of redskins money wasted. Under 6 foot…no speed…no hands…no brains…hello CFL! As a Penn State student I hope he continues to plummet even farther down the draft charts after he ended our chances to contend with USC for the BCS championship 2 years ago.
