Saints running back Deuce McAllister was due to receive a $1 million roster bonus on Tuesday. With his career at a crossroads, however, McAllister wisely opted to agree to a restructuring of his contract.
According to Adam Schefter of NFL Network, the Saints and McAllister have worked out a revised contract. The details aren’t clear, but Schefter says that McAllister could make the full $4.7 million he was due to earn this season if he returns to the form that got him said contract.
McAllister tore another ACL in 2007, and it’s an open question as to whether he’s still got any gas in the tank.

That’s a risky move. He could be a bust big time after a few big hits. That’s too bad cause I always liked Deuce.

I don’t know just how risky that move is considering Reggie Kardashian’s seeming inability to find his second gear in the big boy league. I think Deuce is still a valuable piece to that offense, even though running backs are a dime a dozen. At least he’ll still sell some jerseys.

Great move for the saints. Deuce still has quite a bit left inhis tank, and has been a class act for the organization.

Just another reason why high first round picks shouldn’t get the money they do. Even after years of service and being a very good back in this league Deuce is “almost” forced to take a pay cut. doesn’t seem fair to me but when is the NFL fair?

Deuce is a stud who is easily overlooked because he is old school - i.e. he doesn’t mouth off, get arrested, etc. - he just comes in does his job and goes home. He proved that he can survive this injury two years ago. For this year, he had lots of rehab time - he was injured in Sept.

I like Deuce, he’s a good player. If he can come back healthy, that will help the running game big time.
The Bush was certainly trimmed last year as Reggie “I don’t know nuthing about nuthing and even though I was the second pick, it was just a technicality…..and I should be paid like the overall 1st pick” Bush proved not to be a 3 down back.
