With the possible trade for Titans cornerback Pacman Jones still incomplete, the Dallas Cowboys are preparing for the draft as if they have needs at the position.
Big needs.
This week, the Cowboys will host some of the top corners in the draft, according to Albert Breer of the Dallas Morning News. The list includes Arizona cornerback Antoine Cason, Virginia Tech cornerback Brandon Flowers, Iowa cornerback Charles Godfrey, Troy cornerback Leodis McKelvin, Indiana cornerback Tracy Porter and Tennessee State cornerback Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie.
We still have to do what we’re going to do,” Executive Vice President Stephen Jones said. “[Pacman Jones] is not here, anyway, right now, so that’s how we’re preparing.”
Jones expressed optimism that Pacman Jones eventually will be reinstated, even at a time when some league insiders doubt that he ever will be cleared to play again.
“I think if he continues to take care of business, then, ultimately, he’ll get his opportunity to play,” Stephen Jones said. “The biggest thing for us, at the end of the day, is whether Tennessee wants to trade him or not.”

Seems to me that Dallas cannot change their draft strat regardless of whether they have PacMan or do not have Pacman. He’s still suspended so they don’t know if they would have him or not. Even if unsuspended, they can’t ‘trust’ that he won’t do something stupid (as he shows a great proclivity for) to take himself out again. Given that they need to take a corner with one of their 1st picks, because they need a 3rd corner, and , if for nothing else than to protect themsleves should they not be able to resign TNew next year.
PacMan represents a fairly large risk and should be considered gravy if they get him, he gets unsuspended, he doesn’t implode, and he can return to his former playing ability.

According to one of the people posting in one of the other stories about Pac-Man Jones, Jerri Jones has done more for this league than Vince Lombardi, Paul Brown and Bert Bell combined and should be rewarded as such by allowing him to take any Cornerback from any team, free of charge, no questions asked.
Does any reasonably well-run team really bank on Pac-man being a consistent contributor to a playoff team? Isn’t Dallas known for their stripclubs and other distractions?

Back in February, I saw writers mentioning Jenkins as a potential top 10 pick. Now Jenkins is being mentioned as a 25-35 pick. What has changed since then? He ran a good time at the combine and he is really talented. All I’ve heard is that he often relies “too much” on his talent and may not be a hard worker. Is that why people aren’t really talking about him as much any more?
