Can the Bears send one of their crappy RBs to Carolina to get Gross? Please say yes. Then we could take Mendenhall and have a sort of real offense (except for the passing game part). They can have Benson, Wolfe, the other Adrian Peterson, or all three.

C'mon...trading Gross for Chester freaking Taylor is pure lunacy.

Take a LT in round one (Clady or Williams?) and grab someone like Ray Rice later on.

Jordan Gross for Chester Taylor= terrible trade. It was correctly stated that there are plenty of running backs out there capable of being a power-complement back. Drafting Mendenhall high would be a terrible idea because of my previous comment. Also, D.J. Hacket could bloom into a star, if he has a quality quarterback to throw to him. They should draft one of the 2nd round qbs (Flacco, Henne, Brohm) to address taht issue and take the best available player in the first round.

Could still use a return man that can hold on to the ball and come past the 20. And 2 gunners, but thats all you missed Mike.

Seriously, Gross for Taylor is a terrible idea. Running backs are easy to find if you have a line to block for them. Gross is a very good RT and it seems like he wants to stay on Carolina, the only problem right now is getting the money straightened out. They should be able to get him for RT money, but I think he probably wants LT money, and I don't really blame him. If they would leave him at RT it wouldn't really be a problem, but because they keep moving him back he feels he deserves LT money.

So, they need to get a franchise LT in the draft (I think Otah can be that), keep Gross at RT, give him a good RT salary and everyone will be happy.

Then again with Hurney making decisions, who the hell knows what they will do?

As for QB, Delhomme is a question mark because of the surgery, but he looked damn good last year before he was hurt. Matt Moore looked like he could grow into the franchise QB we have been waiting for since the start, and I think Basanez is a fine back-up. They may draft a late round QB just to try him out in training camp, but there is no way they take Ryan even if he does slide to 13. Hurney/Fox don't have 3 years to develop a new QB, plus first round QBs are so hit and miss they just can't take that chance.

The Gross/Taylor trade is a horrible idea. With plans to move Wharton to the inside, that would leave us with zero starting talent at the tackle position.

You're a little hard on Williams. First, Peterson is a rare exception, not the rule. We're not going to have much of a conversation if every rookie is held up to that standard. Second, John Fox loves him some veterans and can be loyal to a fault, which limited some of Williams' playing time.

DeAngelo, if he should bloom as Panther fans optimistically think he can, would be a Brian Westbrook type back (hopefully with less injury). Westbrook had a very similar start to his career statistically speaking, so there is still reason to be positive. Dwill has also had more than a few flashes that show his ability to be a star.

Very fair assesment of needs otherwise (besides, of course, the lunacy of the Gross/Taylor trade).

Number 13 overall for Chester Taylor. Are you smoking something? Why wouldn't you keep the pick and take a RB yourself. Both Stewart and Mendenhall should be available. You like Taylor better than that? Even if they are gone, improving your OL improves your running and passing (tell that to Matt Millen). I usually agree with you guys on your observations, but that one is just plan bad.

Jordan Gross is one of the better tackles in the NFC, and it can be argued that he deserved a trip to Hawaii last season. There will be no straight-up trade for Chester Taylor or any other dime-a-dozen running back. I think they'll pay Gross big money before they pay Peppers, unless Peppers returns to form.

I believe the D-line, once the centerpiece of the John Fox-era Panthers, is now the biggest liability for this team. Adding dubious-at-best O-linemen for depth (Milford Brown, Keydrick Vincent, and possibly Barry Sims) will do nothing to help the biggest problem, and that's a leaky run defense.

Honestly, this was probably one of the more complete reports. don't necessarily agree with some things said, but it was complete.

I think they should go OT first, and preferably a LT target, largely because I don't think they want to go into the year with Wharton at LT, and I think Gross at LT is only a last resort type move.

The only exception that might justify waiting on OT, IMO, is if they bolt up for, say, a Sedrick Ellis. Sure, they have issues at end, but they have options. this is a team playing for this year, and with Peppers/Brayton/Johnson, they can find a situational rusher later to pair (say a Darrell Robertson perhaps). They lost Moorehead, dealt Jenkins. If they bolt up for Ellis, that'd be understandable.

FS is still an area of concern for this club. I imagine somewhere in the 3rd-5th they'll add someone.

I like the idea of sending Gross to Minnesota straight up for Chester Taylor. Chester Taylor would be a great compliment to Williams in this era of dual back systems. And it reminds me of another straight up trade that worked out pretty well
