Discussions aimed at extending the contract of Chicago Bears defensive tackle Tommie Harris have ended for now, even as the Bears reportedly are poised to make Harris the highest-paid defensive tackle in the league (and thus in league history).
Per Brad Biggs of the Chicago Sun-Times, the Bears already have offered more than the seven-year, $50.5 million deal signed earlier this year by Raiders defensive tackle Tommy Kelly. Unknown in this regard is what Harris has demanded, and where his bottom line might be.
Agent Drew Rosenhaus spent two days in Chicago working on a possible new deal for Harris, and left Wednesday night without commenting.

It seems a little sensational on the reporting part. His agents were there for two days and now they are leaving. They made an initial offer, it would make him the highest paid at his position, so how does this warrant being labeled as breaking off? They didnt insult him with a low ball offer.

Tommie Harris is a helluva football player. Problem is not him as much as it is Urlacher already whining about his contract even though he’s only half way through it. Something’s going to have to give as they probably can’t keep both happy.

the deal is gonna get done, rosenhaus has dealt with the bears for years, and as much as a dick he may seam, it usually works out at the end. hell, he got olsen to be the first 1st rounder to sign last year. anywho, i’m ranting, it’s not a worry, he’ll be in camp.

1.) Kevin Williams (MN) for sure is better
who’s the second? Pat Williams (MN)?
I agree he’s not the best in the division but to say that anyone besides K. Williams is better is a bit ridiculous when you take into account; age, and the fact that P. Williams hasnt had more than (something like) 2 sacks in 3 years. and yes, I know P. Williams isn’t a pass rusher, but that doesnt dismiss that from the overall performance evaluation

Tommie Harris is one of the best defensive tackles in the league. When he’s on the field, everyone around him plays better. Anyone who had the opportunity to watch more than a few Bears games over the last few seasons would probably agree. Like the way Bob Sanders was able to instantly turn around the Colts defense on their way to the Super Bowl, a healthy Tommie Harris has a similar effect on the Bears.
