The on-again, off-again, on-again, off-again talks between the New York Jets and the Denver Broncos could be on, again.

Tom Rock of Newsday expects a trade to come on draft weekend, possibly for a second-day draft pick.  Per Rock, the Broncos and defensive tackle Dewayne Robertson already have a contract in place.

And the contract is the key component of the equation, given that the Jets owe Robertson a roster bonus of $3 million in early June and a base salary in excess of $6 million for 2008, the final year of his rookie contract.

From Robertson’s standpoint, the smarter move move might still be to force the Jets to cut him in June, making him an unrestricted free agent.

From the Broncos’ perspective, showing interest in another underachieving one-time top-ten defensive lineman isn’t surprising.
