Old School has nailed it. DeRosa actually only missed about a week of spring training after undergoing identical procedure. Very minor surgery despite the fact that it is performed on a pretty damn important organ.

If it's the same surgery Mark DeRosa of the Cubs had, it should be no big deal. The surgery corrects a, for lack of a better word, short circut which causes the heart rate to speed up without warning. It can be somewhat controlled with medication and massage of the carotid artery, but sooner or later, people with this medical condition, opt for the procedure to correct it permanently.

A catheter is inserted into an artery in the groin area and fed up to the heart. Radio waves are then used to burn away the cause of the problem. Recovery time is minimal

My daughter had this procedure 20 years ago and has had no recurrences.

He's a stud, and this could make him the steal of the draft. Hopefully it will scare enough teams away to let the Steelers grab him in the second.

Good luck to him. Hopefully this one surgery was enough to fix the problem.

Electrical system? Did they change a fuse? Or re-wire him completely?

Same feelings here. I honestly don't think it'll affect his draft stock that much. If anything it'll just stop teams from over-valuing him and keeping him in the 2nd round where, all things considered, he should be. Best wishes to him.

Who cares about his draft stock, I just hope the kid is okay. Some things ARE more important than football.
