As the 2008 draft approaches, the folks at ESPN are putting each team “on the clock,” via brief video discussions about what each team should be looking to do in the upcoming effort to bring in new talent from the college ranks.
On Wednesday, however, several readers noticed something strange. In the version of the Bengals “on the clock” video that was posted on ESPN.com, the guys spoke as if receiver Chad Johnson is no longer a member of the team. The video has since been taken down.
But the actual video that aired on SportsCenter didn’t refer to Ocho Stinko in the past tense.
Our guess? They taped two of the segments in the event that the Bengals opted to trade Johnson before the date on which the segment aired, and the wrong one got posted on ESPN.com.

Mel Kiper was on Tony Kornheiser’s radio show a week or so ago and he mentioned that they taped two segments for Cincinnati.

The quality of journalism at ESPN is beyond awful. Theyre segments are pointless and definitely reach far too often. Baseball Tonite is the only decent thing they do anymore

As a sidenote on that episode, they also wondered if Chris Henry would be someone you could count on every down now that Chad is gone…

I realize that the segment was taped earler, but even so it is surprising how little ESPN announcers know about teams sometimes.
