A day after it was disclosed that the Philadelphia Eagles have hosted Cal receiver DeSean Jackson, there is a report that the Eagles also have brought in Michigan State receiver Devin Thomas and Indiana receiver James Hardy.
The Eagles haven’t announced or confirmed the visits. Most franchises are tight-lipped about the pre-draft get-togethers. Some are willing to identify the players who have come to town. Others bring in players in whom they have no interest, in the hopes of sending out false smoke signals to other teams.
With all that said, the Eagles surely are interested in upgrading the receiver position. Otherwise, they wouldn’t have tried to get Randy Moss, or Larry Fitzgerald.

Chis Henry would not look good in green, too much of a head case and too much trouble. Now one of his former unahappy WR teammates would look great in green if that could be pulled off somehow…

Heres my crackpot theory based on absolutely no knowledge what-so-ever. The birds are confident they are going to get Roy Williams from Detroit, possibly having already worked out a deal with them. They are bringing wide outs to town to throw off other teams and will nab an OT or RB in the first round as soon as the trade is finalized. They can pick up somebody to return kicks/punts a little later in the draft if they don’t draft a RB who can do it.

RB in first round? Well your “crackpot” thoery is some what accurate… That is with that you are smoking crack and pot to generate that theory…

umm, how is it that henry is “too much of a head case and too much trouble” and cj is not?
i mentioned in the previous eagles/desean jackson post that i would rather see them move down and grab limas sweed. i still would be both hardy and thomas would be right there. sort of a 1a, 1b, 1c deal.
however, i think the birds will go ot in round 1 (chris williams if he’s there) and perhaps move up in round 2 (using some of their 10 picks - not including theri 1st rounder which they obviously would have already used) to grab one of the above 3.

If they can get Roy Williams for a first round pick, they should definitely do that, getting a reciever in the draft doesn’t do anything right away. How many rookie recievers have had big numbers?

The Eagles just brought in Marky Mark for a tryout, because the front office thought he looked good, playing a wide reciever in the movie Invincible

Drat, Ditkas Cigar, beat me to it, heh. Something tells me that Mr. Henry isn’t going to be playing for anyone again this year for at least 8 games, perhaps longer. I wouldn’t be surprised in the least if Goodell hands down another Pacman type suspension.
I also wouldn’t be surprised if Henry ends up doing a little jail time for his latest altercation.

The only bird Chris Henry is going to be is a jail bird. Anyone thinking the Eagles would take him is out of their mind, not to mention he will miss at least a year because of the upcoming NFL suspension.

The Eagles would not have to give up their 1st rd pick for Roy Williams. What, Lito and a 2nd rd pick isn’t enough? The Birds have 11 picks this year. They could afford to package Lito and 2nd Rd pick to the Lions for Roy Williams and still have enough picks to trade to get their 2nd rd pick back and pick even lower then their current 49th selection. After drafting an OL in RD 1, I would go for best available Safety or WR/kick returner.
#85 would look great in green, but I doubt he’s going anywhere with their current WR situation in Cincy.

Heres whats going to happen…. they will trade lito for a 1st rounder and get an ol and a wr. It may not be the best thing for them and i would love cj, but its definatly the most plausible thing right now

You are all idiots if you think the eagles will use a 1st round pick on a wideout. The Eagles will select a tackle. Their tackles are both past their prime and have maybe a year or 2 at the most left in them. The only way they add a WR is packaging Lito and a pick, knowing how Big red values hip draft selections I do not see them packaging anything higher than a 3rd rounder. Do not be surprised if the eagles package Lito and their 1st to move up to get a tackle.
You all know that the wlast wide receiver they selected in the first round is still thanking god for having the best hands, while watching NFL games on his couch.
You win in the trenches. If you have time to throw the wideouts the eagles have now will suffice. Although I do want them to get a WR, I just don’t see it happening

“If they can get Roy Williams for a first round pick, they should definitely do that”
Let’s think about this one for a minute…Terrel Owens, who is better at WR, cost a 5th and a player who became a couple of other low picks. Randy Moss, also is better, cost a 4th. Yeah, give up the number 1 for Roy Williams. That’ll work.

The rumor was that eagles offered lions sheppard and a first round pick for williams. if i were them, i would do it in a heartbeat. trash sheppard for samuel, and get rid of an unproven 1st rounder for 26 year old pro bowl proven roy williwms. if that rumor is actually true, the eagles would be crazy not to take it.

there’s about a 1% chance the eagles go WR in the first round.
the eagles value OL, DL, CB, and QB over all other positions. RB would be a waste, they have a capable backup and hardly use him.
i can definitely see lito used to move up in the first for a top-flight OT or someone like gholston. the only scenario in which i see the eagles getting a wideout with their first pick is if they trade back.

I think Lito and a third rounder would be too much to give up for Williams, but I suppose I could live with it.
