With a left knee that knocked him out of action for most of the 2007 season and a right knee that, due to offseason surgery, might not be ready for the start of training camp, the Indianapolis Colts could be making plans for life after Marvin Harrison.
Adam Schefter of NFL Network reveals the details about Harrison, whose condition has clouded by uncertainty for months. Schefter also reports that LSU receiver Early Doucet will be visiting the Colts.
Indy doesn’t have a first-round pick this year, but could target Doucet (or another wideout) in round two. Last year, the Colts used a first-rounder on Ohio State receiver Anthony Gonzalez. Given that Reggie Wayne, a first-rounder from earlier this decade, is still in his prime, the use of a first-day pick on a receiver could be interpreted as a sign that Harrison is winding down.
Though it’s still too early to declare Harrison done, Jerry Rice likely won’t have to worry about Marvin mangling up the all-time receiving records that Rice set during his career.
