One of the curiously awkward (or awkwardly curious) aspects of the recent effort by Ravens kicker Matt Stover to give long-time NFLPA Executive Director Gene Upshaw das boot is that both men are represented by the same firm.

Upshaw and Stover are represented by CAA.  Upshaw is handled by Tom Condon, and (as we’ve confirmed on Wednesday night) Stover is a client of Jim Steiner, who came to CAA a couple of years ago when CAA devoured merged with SFX.

We’re not sure how this might play out.  But we have an idea.

“Hey, Tom.  How are you?”

“Fine, Jim.  Anything new?”

“No.  Not much.  Nothing at all, actually.  And there definitely aren’t any efforts that I’m aware of by any of my low-level clients to attack any of your high-profile clients whose power and influence has helped bring in millions of dollars over the years. . . .  How ’bout a Fresca?”
