same here. jets season ticket holder in washington, dc. eager to plan trips to games in ny (nj) and on the road.

fyi, directv's listings grid doesn't show same shows as nfln's website at those times, though that's not terribly surprising.

should we look at espn listings for clues, too, or does nfln get the release show exclusively, like cbs with selection sunday?

I have been looking for anything regarding the 2008 schedule for days and this is the first thing I was able to find. NFL.com posted an apparently inaccurate article stating that the regular season schedule would be announced April 3. Then April 3 came and went without a word from them. They have not posted anything since, except I guess the NFLN stuff you are referring to.

I have to make travel plans for road and home games for my team, the 49ers. The schedule of games is really important for people like me who need to combine business and personal travel for these games.

Let me also throw in as I travel and see how many others do the same thing, how LA can be without a team and associated revenues is pretty amazing. Thanks for your site and the opportunity to vent.

I can't wait until the NFL schedule gets released. As a season ticket holder, it lets me know which 8 Sundays in the fall time will stand still, and which 8 Mondays in the fall the office should be kept low-key (in case of "over-tailgating"). Yeah, I know it's the Lions, but it's all about NFL 'Ball.

I can't wait to once again see "Monday Night Footballs", schedule dwarfed by "Sunday Night Footballs" schedule. Tis a shame, ESPN killed Monday Night. I know!, Perhaps modern science can Clone Tony K, and we can have three irritating, stupid, idiots in the box. I'd rather watch my dog try to get a nugget out of his hind end then watch that guy for three hours! It would be more attractive to boot!

I agree that the "when" is very important, however I think some of you, by your comments don't realize that the opponents list has been released already.

I'll also point out that the schedule is huge to people like me who live in Toronto. We're only going to get one regular season game a year, so it's probably not an understatement to say that fans are praying it's against a decent team.

I agree with a previous poster that the biggest factor is the number of prime time games, and who they are against. Having to make plans for games 5-8 months away won't really be affected by waiting another week for the schedule to be released. Being a huge GB fan in so-cal I'm curious as to when we travel to Seattle as that is the closest game to me but its not like I'm going to book my airfare hours after the game date is announced.

This just shows how HUGE football is. I remember a poll on foxsports.com about one year ago asking people which April event they were most looking forward to, and the NFL Draft beat MLB opening day by 15-20%, which is amazing.

"We’re not sure why this is a big deal for NFL fans" -Florio

Are you kidding? My whole fall/winter revolves around the Pats' schedule. It determines how many games I can go to, where I can travel, and where I need to go to watch games (at home or sports bar if it's not a local broadcast).

IMO NFL Schedule Day is FAR more exciting than the Draft. They could have a press conference at Radio City Music Hall spanning 2 days in which they announced 1 game every few minutes and I would be glued to the TV the whole time. The Draft? They could just post the picks online after all is said and done and I would be just as happy. The Draft is just an overhyped event.

I would like to schedule a West Coast trip and catch a 49ers and a chargers home game in back to back weeks but I didn't send any emails to Florio, he doesn't control it. That would be like yelling at the weatherman for not getting warm sunny weather fast enough

The "when" is very important. It determines if your schedule backloaded or easy down the stretch. As another Eagles fan (are we the only guys in here?), I remember two years ago when we had all three division rivals as the last three games of the year. That was a real kick in the nuts, although we did go 3-0. Go birds!!!

It is tangible proof that the season is right around the corner, even if it's really five months away.

It's all about the planning. When there are only 16 games a year, every game is an event...whether it is planning a road trip or blocking out the weekends of the 8 home games.

Also an Eagles fan.......it's the day of the year when I e-mail my friends and families with a schedule of when I will not be available for any parties, get-togethers, etc. It's my annual "don't even ask me about attending Aunt Pearl's 60th b-day party" e-mail. Yeah, it seems cold and I'm sure it angers my relatives, but I get great joy out of it. I look forward to it every Spring.

For anybody that's a season ticket holder, it's good to know ASAP so you can get in your days off well in advance. Especially now that games can be on a Monday, Thursday, Saturday and Sunday

As an Eagles fan in Cincy. I'm dying to know when the schedule comes out so I can plan when to leave town for Italy and when to stay for the upcoming Eagles game when the visit the Queen City. So yeah they need to quit farting around and announce the darn schedule.
