The tit-for-tat between the New York Jets and New England Patriots continued on Monday, with the Pats signing one of the Jets’ free agents.
Specifically, the Pats have agreed to terms with linebacker Victor Hobson on a one-year deal, according to Adam Schefter of NFL Network.
Hobson, a second-round pick in 2003, has spent all five of his NFL seasons with the Jets. He started 14 games in 2007, 16 games in 2006, and 16 games in 2005.

Wait, I’m confused. Is this only a one year deal?
Regardless, I was hoping the Browns would pick up Hobson. Oh well.

For the Pats he’s likely an inside player as he couldn’t keep his job in New York on the outside and had a tough time fighting off longer-armed guards and tackles and getting to the QB with regularity. This provides the Pats with some good depth, with some upside to challenge Bruschi or push AD to the outside.

Don’t worry; there’s always a chance they’ll release him after they get the information they need from him regarding the Jets.

Plus, Hobson can help putting together the missing pieces of the defensive coaching signals film.

Lol, good luck with that one Pat’s fans. Why anyone would want one of the Jets less than mediocre players during a less than mediocre year for the defense is beyond me. Maybe they’ll sign Wayne Chrebet next.

Hmmm. Ever notice how the Pats pick up undistinguished players from other teams and often turn them into solid contributors while, at the same time, guys who looked really good with the Pats turn into duds when they leave?
So, Victor Hobson and Fernando Bryant? Gonna be an interesting year.

spyboots, it’ the other way around. The Jets always pick up New England’s disguared players. Mangini craves to be Belichick. He tries to make a 4-3 defense into a 3-4…WTF is that? Oh that was Mangini trying to be a hero…but instead he turns out to a zero. Whaterver happened to Mangenuis? Now he’s Mangania.
Last year was a difficult year for ALL Jets players. With the Pete Kendall incident most players were hostile towards Mangini and rightly so. They needed Kendall all year. He could of made a difference. One of the Jet players and came out and said this. They all were pretty poor last year, but the year before that Hobson made 100 tackles. Hmmmmm….so I wonder who will be a solid contributor to the linebacker core?
