Veteran safety Clinton Hart, acquired via waivers from the Eagles in 2004, will be staying with the San Diego Chargers for a long term.
Unless they cut him, of course.
The 30-year-old safety has inked a five-year deal, which runs through the 2012 season. Terms have not yet been reported.
“I’m excited to be here and have another chance to help this team make a run,” Hart told the North County Times. “The way I look at it, I’ve got five years to help them get a Super Bowl. I’ll do my best and do whatever I can to help this team get to that point.”
Hart started every game for the Chargers in 2007, his most by far since starting nine games as a rookie with the Eagles in 2003. He had five interceptions, 85 tackles, and one sack.

Hart has a great attitude. I don’t think he will be there for five years, but I do love the attitude.

He does have a go-getter attitude, helps with team morale. Nothing like his whiney QB.
