Patriots running back Kevin Faulk, a rare member of the organization who gets in trouble off the field, has addressed publicly the incident that resulted in a February 2008 citation for marijuana possession.
Specifically, Faulk had in his jacket four hand-rolled cigars containing the wacky weed.
“I take full responsibility for what I had on me, for what happened,” Faulk said, according to the Boston Herald. “But at the same time, with regard to some of the things that were said, there were stories that I got arrested, that I got caught smoking. I know what happened. I don’t have to tell anyone that. When the media calls asking questions and looking for a comment, I was always taught actions speak louder than words. So I didn’t want to talk about it. I wanted to react to it. So I took a drug test, and that was it for me.”
Faulk passed the drug test. It’s not clear who administered it, or whether any rubber, um, devices were used in providing the sample.
Though we’re kidding (sort of) in making reference to Onterrio Smith’s travel companion, it appears that Faulk might have made his own arrangements to be tested. We suspect that being tested under such circumstances isn’t as stringent as it might be when the test is imposed by the NFL.

I’m pretty sure Belichick has some video lying around of Faulk burning one in the bathroom.

Why do you always have to be so negative? I think this is a good thing. At least someone finally admitted they did something wrong.

I agree it is refreshing to hear someone actually fess up. Even if he Faulked up big time.

Fess up? Admit it? That’s hilarious…again, I’ll run this down for ya people….protocol for today’s stars…
1. apologize (or take responsibility)
2. slap on wrist
3. Kleenex grabbing segment on ESPN.
Ever notice these people admit and fess up AFTER they get caught? See Micheal Vick if you have trouble with that one. And yet, we wonder aloud why nobody puts these guys in jail?
Now if these guys were to stand up and take responsibility for, say…protecting a loved one…that would be admirable or understandable perhaps…but to take responsibility for, obviously, something you were caught doing? Please.

Like Faulk is the only Faulked up member of Patriot Nation. He’s the only one who got Faulkin’ caught.

Even Ricky Williams passed the occasional drug test… with the help of detox products.
Unless he took the drug test within minutes/hours after his arrest, it wouldn’t be accurate.
What’s the big deal? Randy Moss has had drug problems, run over a traffic cop, and even broke a chick’s finger in a sex move I can’t possibly phathom… and you Kevin, are no Randy Moss.

Mike Shanahan would have him take a lie detector test. I’ll bet Billy B. would have him do it too if he could get away with it. Someone would probably tape it…

Why would he have four blunts if he had no designs on smoking them? I didn’t buy the “it belongs to my friend” argument when a pipe was found in Michael Irvin’s car and I don’t buy it this time. Hooray for passing a drug test that was not random.

What a joke. It sure is easy to pass a drug test if your drugs get taken from you BEFORE you get a chance to smoke them. This guy isn’t coming clean. He just wants us to think he is.
Anybody honestly believe that this is the first time Faulk has had drugs in his pocket?

He took responsibility for his actions. You people are just never pleased. Someone said “oh wow he fessed up AFTER he was caught”, well duh. Are you going to roll through a stop sign, and then the next day go to the police station and ask for a ticket? No. If the cop pulls you over and says, you didn’t stop at the stop sign, you might say, “Yeah, sorry” and hope for the best.
Again. He took responsibility for his actions. He didn’t say, “My cousin put it there” or “It belongs to my friend”. All he said was that he wasn’t caught smoking, which he wasn’t, but he takes full responsibility for what he had on me and what happened. What else do you want?

Who cares? Marijuana prohibition has no just basis. It’s founded on racism and antiquated stereotypes. Am I supposed to be outraged that a player defies an unjust law? This is a lifestyle choice. By any objective measure a far smaller offense than speaking on a cell phone while driving.
And I’ll tell you this, having worked with both, I’ll take a doper 10 out of 10 times over a drunk. Bemused and feckless beats phony-tough and disorderly.

I totally agree with the last post. Ohmigod, people in this country smoke weed? I never would have guessed. This is akin to the “news” that Matt Leinart likes to party with attractive women AT A HOUSE. Not a bar, no drunk driving, but a a damn house. So scandalous. People in this country need to grow the f- up.
