Former Bengals receiver Chris Henry is not yet a free agent.  Instead, because he does not have four years of NFL service, he must pass through waivers before hitting the open market.

So the question becomes whether another team will be willing to make a waiver claim for him.  It requires no signing bonus or other up front investment.  It wouldn’t shock us if a team that needs a receiver takes a flier on Henry, whose talent is undeniable.

One potential candidate could be the Oakland Raiders, who recently added Javon Walker via free agency.  In Henry’s case, the Raiders can secure his services without having to grossly overpay him.

Of course, Henry still might be suspended by the NFL.  Or he could be unavailable to play because he’s, you know, behind bars.

And there’s no guarantee that Henry has changed his behavior.  Said one league source in response to the news of Henry’s most recent arrest,  “I hope he can pull himself together before he kills himself or someone else.”
