Well, the Dallas Cowboys might soon have a new receiver.
Chris Henry, who was suspended by NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell for the first eight games of the 2007 season due to multiple run-ins with the law, has been cut by the Cincinnati Bengals.
Said Bengals president Mike Brown in a team-issued statement: “Chris Henry has forfeited his opportunity to pursue a career with the Bengals. His conduct can no longer be tolerated.
“The Bengals tried for an extended period of time to support Chris and his potentially bright career. We had hoped to guide him toward an appropriate standard of personal responsibility that this community would support and that would allow him to play in the NFL. We acknowledge those fans who had concerns about Chris; at the same time we tried to help a young man.
“But those efforts end today, as we move on with what is best for our team.”
Henry was taken into custody early Thursday after being charged with assault. Under the rules of Turd Watch II, the Bengals will not receive any points as a result of the arrest, since they cut him within a week after the cuffing and fingerprinting.
Meanwhile, we wonder whether disgruntled Bengals receiver Chad Johnson is now contemplating a mini-crime spree.

Strangely, the Bengals didn’t wait for the outcome of the Leinart investigation first before making a decision.

or the next reality TV series on VH1. Just as well, now Marv and the staff can put a few WRs on the draft board and get on with it.

Good to see one less receiver in the AFC North. Oh wait I hear the Squeelers are on the phone with Chris Henry’s agent. A party with Henry, Cedric Wilson, and James Harrison is scheduled Saturday night.

It is about time they step up and start to clear out some of the turds from this organization. Maybe this will make some other players realize that this type of behavior is not going to be tolerated.
The sad thing is that he was still under his rookie contract. If some team does decide to take a risk on him, it will probably be for more money than he was due to make.

Leinart investigation? That’s comparing Apples to Oranges.
The unfortunate part is that Henry will catch on somewhere because he has talent. He’ll get at least one more shot to turn things around. Given his record, though, I can’t imagine that next opportunity lasting too long.

They lose all the points Henry got them just because they cut him before Goodell banished him? That is way to generous. I think they should lose half the points, not all. They still drafted him, still kept him on the team.

I don’t get the Bengals…….they seem to have a bunch of steaming piles on their roster. Is this a reflection of Mike Brown or Marvin Lewis?
One thing about about Chad Johnson is that he seems to be an ok guy off the field and he’s frustrated as hell. So what, the guy celebrates touchdowns……he an entertainer right? I think people lump him in with the other inmates and that pisses him off.

Bravo to the Bengals. Some young guys who get into trouble will respond to the help they are given and change their conduct. Henry has proven that he is not willing to change his conduct.

Well it looks like the Cowboys have found a WR. Should be real interesting watching a team that will have Henry, Owens, and Pacboy on it. Jerry Jones must have an ego the size of Texas if he thinks he can control these three when no other team before has been able to. Team chemistry is more important than people realize, and I hope the Cowboys go down in flames for rewarding players with bad character. I almost forgot another turd on the Cowboys Tank Johnson.
I am so confident that the Cowboys will win the turd of the year award that I am putting up my mother-in-law. Any takers?

Good for Mike Brown. Finally and owner with balls. Mistaken identity or not. It’s more bad press and another blow to image of the Bengals and the NFL. I now have more respect for the team in Cincy. Excellent statement. “Chis Henry as forfeited the opportunity….”

Whoa, have teams always been able to avoid turd points by cutting the player within 7 days? I disagree with that. The damage is done by the turd as soon as he gets arrested. The team can save face by cutting him, but that doesn’t erase the fact that the NFL player is a criminal, and they’re the team that allowed the “NFL” be associated with his name and crime report.
Under your rules, a team could employ nothing but turds, and as long as they cut them within 7 days of getting busted, the team will remain squeaky clean.
Give ‘em their medicine. Give them their points. They earned it.

I think Goodell will probably ban Henry. He was supposedly on his last chance and unless Henry comes up with an alibi that is verifiable by a neutral 3rd party to prove this is mistaken identity, I dobut Goodell will put up with this.
At the very least I see a minimum another year suspension for him.

‘ravensfan’ is obviously the biggest idiot on this board. talk about the pot calling the kettle black. steelers have a couple domestic disturbances, bengals have some repeated bone-headed charges again and again. but the ravens? how soon we forget ray lewis and his murder charges, or jamal lewis and the jail term he served for setting up a coke deal. the ravens easily take the cake for biggest disgrace.

Hey Jerry…you catching any of this? See…in your quest to win at all costs, you’ve created a situation where anytime some turd gets cut/arrested/incarcerated…people will bring on the jokes about said turd playing for the Cowboys…get used to it…you brought it not only on yourself, but on the Cowboy faithful who have no input on your decisions…thanks again!
