What is it about Jaguars football players and Jacksonville police officers?
It’s been well documented that left tackle Khalif Barnes launched into a racially-charged rant when he was arrested for drunk driving in 2006. Among other things, Barnes called the officer a “KKK Devil.”
According to the Florida Times-Union, court records indicate that Jaguars cornerback Brian Williams subjected an arresting officer similar comments when he was arrested for drunk driving.
In addition to reportedly calling the officer a “honky,” Williams was reportedly “profanely threatening sex acts with the officer’s wife and daughter.”
Williams also reportedly offered to allow the officer to have sex with Williams’ date, if the officer released him. (After the officer presumably declined, it’s unknown whether Williams asked the officer to let Williams beat him in tennis.)
And when the officer asked Williams if he wanted his date to take Williams’ Bentley from the scene, Williams said, “I ain’t letting that ho take my car.”
Lovely. . . . PFT Planet — what say you about this?

I lived in Jax and have to say that the “JSO” is an aggressive organization. Right or wrong, many minorities fear the tactics of the JSO…

Wow, can you imagine the uproar if it was a white player that got pulled over and dropped an “N” bomb on a black officer?

I’ve never thought Brian Williams had a great attitude, knowing him on the Vikings those few years, but these comments have far surpassed the level of turtitude I thought he was capable of.
That said, I think there is a lot of racism (going both ways) in that area, and a lot of football players are probably getting pulled over for driving while black in a fancy car.
In short, I hope these two incidents are treated differently, as while Williams seemed to want to just be nasty, I think Barnes had a legitimate beef with his arresting officers and handled it the wrong way.

If that’s accurate, I believe he got off pretty easy with DUI. “Profanely threatening sex acts with the officer’s wife and daughter”. And he said this to a man with a gun!!

I think it was pretty generous of Brian to offer up his date. Most cops just accept cash, though.

Its amazing, i guess he doesnt have a good enough nick-name to get noticed. We’ll call him Ms. Pac man, or Pac man Jr., maybe then he’ll get the same punishment as others do. But, sadly, this just goes under the rug.
The cop probably was wrong anyway, they usually are profiling or something, but what a reaction; “I aint giving that ho my car”. Wait till he gets home and he has a nice key gouge to go with the slashed tires.

Oh boy, here comes Brian in here any minute now to defend Williams and call us all hypocrites since we all most definitely act that way with the law enforcement officers and we all drink and drive.
But on a side note, its interesting to take note of football players that break laws because why do they need to break them when they have the money to avoid having to break them. The common person breaks the law out of necessity or because of their own problems mentally or physically, but the rich person breaks the law… because they can?

How often do you think cops let guys like this go because they are professional athletes? I bet it happens a lot!
But hey, if all else fails, play the race card. Not only did he break the law, but he is shaming his team, the league and society in general - TURD.

Clearly the officer was profiling a drunken person operating a motor vehicle…it cant be anymore racist than that.
It is just another sad moment in what has become an almost everyday occurance (check the meter out PFT planet)…I like the way the Commish has been handling things and trying to restore some order and respectability to the NFL. But guys like this only learn when you hit them in the pocket book, suspensions are a band-aid. Guys need to be tossed from the league and the rest will wake up. If he was a truck driver, he’d have lost his job for this. I’m glad these guys can make the money they do but they’ll never learn…start using some real world punishment and the rest of the turds in the league will work their way out or straighten up when they realize the gravy train has pulled out of the station.

I have to agree with RyanHarris - why is it a non-issue when the word “honky” gets thrown around ??? As long as we have that double-standard, we will never get past racism in this world.

He was pulled over in THAT car right next to the stadium shortly after signing. JSO knew they were pulling over a player (or Waffle House franchise owner) and were fishing for a headline. Williams reacted negatively. But who hasn’t said some regrettable things when drunk?
