The New York Giants have secured for 2008 the services of a giant-sized quarterback.

According to the New York Daily News, Jared Lorenzen has signed a one-year, $927,000 tender offer.

But whether Lorenzen makes the final roster remains to be seen.  The arrival of 2002 No. 1 overall pick David Carr could put the duo in direct competition, since the Giants could save some money and cap space with a No. 3 guy who is making the rookie minimum.

Lorenzen is one of the largest quarterbacks in league history, and not because he’s tall.  We’ll leave it to the growing throng of PFT Planet’s comment crew to list his various nicknames.
