Cornerback Pacman Jones is still a member of the Tennessee Titans. But, if he gets his way, he won’t be for long.
At a charity basketball game on Saturday night, during which he appeared and participated as a member of the Titans, Jones declared that his time with the team, in his view, has ended.
”I really think my days being a Titan is over with,” Jones said, according to the Tennessean. “I enjoyed my stay here. I just think my days as a Titan is over with.” (If football doesn’t work out, Jones has proven in those two sentences alone that he’s capable of performing as well as Emmitt Smith on ESPN.)
Jones didn’t do any favors for the only team that wants him, the Dallas Cowboys, by setting the price tag for his services. “I would say a first-round pick if I had to say something, but that ain’t up to me,” Jones said.
Of course he wants to be traded for a first-round pick, because if he’s worth a first-round pick it means that he’s still regarded as a highly desirable football player.
He isn’t. Sure, he might play well for the Cowboys, if he ever is reinstated by Commissioner Roger Goodell. But Jones hasn’t really changed and won’t change, in our opinion. So he’ll need constant supervision, oversight, and diaper-changing from those who stand to make a buck off his talents until his talents no longer can make a buck, at which time he’ll be left to his own devices, and he’ll likely end up in a constant stream of trouble.
It’s the Mike Tyson story all over again, as we see it. The man can’t and won’t change, so the goal is to protect him from himself until he’s no longer in a position to make other people rich(er).
And we’re still having trouble understanding why Pacman wants out of Tennessee. Did the team not make enough excuses for his misbehavior? Did the team not complain loudly enough when Goodell dispensed punishment?
The mere fact that Jones would show no loyalty to the team that made him the No. 6 overall pick in the draft at a time when other teams (like the Cowboys) had removed him from the draft board confirms to us that Jones doesn’t get it, and that he never will.
So, enjoy, Cowboys fans. Because we have a feeling that not many autumns will come and go before Pacman says, “I really think my days being a Cowboy is over with.”

While I agree that he probably won’t ever change or “get it” as they say, these comments here are more stating what is, than anything he hopes for. I have no problem with him saying these things. I think the Titans have made clear his days as a Titan are over.

Excellent! I couldn’t agree more. Jerry Jones claims he wants to bring home the trophy that should have been named after Tom Landry but is it so hard to see that for fans that remember when football really was a game first and an entertainment sideshow second that if Jones goes through with this trade… maybe holding that trophy high will not so much with the stains of turds like Pacman and Tank Johnson on it.
We Cowboy fans should be embarrassed that years ago we looked down our noses at a great RB named like Duane Thomas. We are a fickle bunch indeed.

Worth is what the buyer will pay. The Titans can talk all they want about he was the 6th overall pick and how good he is but if all they get is a 6th rounder, that’s all he’s worth.

A few years ago, then Cowboys coach Bill Parcells cut starting QB Quincy Carter for being a turd…the mentality and values of that organization really have changed.

“…the trophy that should have been named after Tom Landry…”
You Cowboy fans should be embarrassed that you just wrote that sentence.

Well, this is just an acknowledgment of reality, isn’t it? Hasn’t Jeff Fisher already said the team is moving on without him? Yeah, the guy’s a thug and probably doesn’t “get it”, and maybe never will. But, why not save your condemnation of him for when he actually does something wrong (poor grammar notwithstanding)?

Shouldn’t this go in the “duh” file? Isn’t Pacman stating the obvious?

What everyone seems to forget is what a jerk Punkman was ON the field. That dumbass (who once said he felt at home after addressing a 4th grade class in Nashville) kept several opponents’ scoring drives alive by committing personal fouls. He’d make an ok play on 3rd down to prevent a first and then draw an unsportsmanlike penalty by thuggin around giving the opponent a first down. . HE IS A LIABILITY ON AND OFF THE FIELD. Help yourself Cowboys BWAHAHAHAHAHA.

I think the correct way to phrase the situation for Mr. Pacman is to say that he is “only tryin’ to protect hisself”. Titan’s must have teh best poker faces in the buisness. This guy is a cancer! Of course, I support his trade to the Cowboys! He would be a great addition (poker face implied).

The Cowboys could sign Pac-Man Jones and about 4 other guys with his track record and still be one of the cleaner teams in the NFL….i’m looking at you, Mike Shanahan.
