Believe it or not, it has been ten full days since an NFL player or team employee has been arrested.
Surely, it won’t last.
In the year or so since we’ve been tracking legal entanglements in this space, the record is 27 days without an arrest. We rarely push the thing to double digits, and when it gets there it doesn’t last long.

I wonder what the correlation is with NFL players in trouble and society as a whole. I coulddddd be wrong, but I don’t know if it’s that different. I believe I have heard that on more than one occasion. One thing that bothers me is hypocrisy, more than almost anything. I am NOT saying Florio and co. are that AT ALL, but I am saying that snickering and making fun of others, while society does the same things, is wrong. Maybe it’s because of being insecure? Or maybe because it makes us feels good to exploit others who live blessed lives while those making fun have shortcomings?
Look at Larry Craig making anti-gay legislation and soliciting gay sex in a bathroom. Look at Newt Gingrich trying to bring down Bill Clinton while he was having an affair with a woman 23 years his junior. Look at Elliot Spitzer prosecuting those involved in prostitution while …
And look at you guys, the general public, making fun of NFL players while not exactly being moral, based on statistics of the general populace.
Serious crime ought to be looked at. But c’mon. Hypocrisy.

It is the weekend and NCAA March Madness is trimming the Elite Eight to the Final Four, so maybe the players are watching at home and chilling out. But, there is always tomorrow.

It’s really quite sad that we’ve gotten to a point in things that going ten days, not even ten business days, without an NFL employee/player/coach is cause for an entire post on the subject.

Hey Brian,
maybe it’s that some of us can live our lives for so many years and never know what the inside of a jail looks like, and we have friends and family that have lived their lives never knowing what it’s like to be arrested. And maybe we are the ones making the comments because we are so amazed that so many people in the same profession can constantly get arrested.
Maybe that’s what it is.

Actually, browniesbite, ummmmmerrr……back, since the police stopped profiling the Bengals, they’ve done quite well in that department.
Sorry……couldn’t resist a Browns slam when I had the oppurtunity……
All Hail the AFC North!

I don’t know what the inside of a jail cell looks like, Skew, nor do any members of my family. But Americans as a whole do, and average statistics around the country, I think, are not that much different than NFL players’ crime statistics. So why not make fun of, say, our culture, instead of focusing on a sport where they make more $ than you’d ever dream of.

Hey, Brian.
Let’s stay with your topic. People like me are making comments about how much the players are being arrested, and you call us hypocrites.
I’m just asking how can we be hypocrites if some of us making comments have never been to jail?
Many of us making comments have never had any trouble with the law, in many years of our lives, but yet you want to call us hypocrites.
I’ll call out idiots like packman for being a moron and I have the right to do so, and I am not a hypocrite because I know how to live within societies rules and not get arrested for shooting up a strip clubs because I know how legally present myself in public.
But continue to stand by all the public thugs you want. Hold that kind of thought up high. Hold packman so high that you can like the bottom of his balls. Since that seems to be your final goal.

Very appropriate. If you read in one of my previous comments, I actually said that guys like Packman, Vick, and Leonard Little should never be allowed in the NFL again (death or serious injury bothers me … DUI’s, irresponsibility resulting in one getting paralyzed, killing dogs). But I think it’s dumb to just call out the NFL for dumb little violations when the avg NFL player’s crime isn’t that much different from the average American’s. Most are good people, many are not, like our country. And I find it hard to believe that every soul that didn’t say something about NFL crime hasn’t even gotten a minor violation for something (and thus being eligible for turd points).
I don’t stand by bad people. Even pretty minor things get discussed for turd points, and if it’s 1 player in the NFL, it gets mocked. No one has gotten busted for pot? Gotten a speeding ticket? Etc. I’m sure you haven’t, Skew, and neither have I (well, 1 speeding ticket in my 20 years of existence … I’m a thug). But why pick on the NFL instead of ANYTHING else? Or maybe just look at the culture of our country.

Skew, you seem just as dumb as Pacman though.
“I’ll call out idiots like packman for being a moron and I have the right to do so, and I am not a hypocrite because I know how to live within societies rules and not get arrested for shooting up a strip clubs because I know how legally present myself in public.”
This whole sentence is one run on vomit of thought. Pacman didn’t shoot up a strip club, he made it rain. Rain led to a shooting, but Pacman didn’t shoot anybody. He only played God by making it rain. You may know how legally present yourself in public, but you look like a retarded Emmitt Smith on a message board. You can’t even spell Pacman correctly in a post about him?! I don’t think you are jealous of how much Pacman makes but of his intelligence.
