The Carolina Panthers had better be sure they have a hard-working kitchen staff in place for training camp.

Two days after signing the enormous guard Toniu Fonoti, the Panthers have announced the signing of Milford Brown, a veteran guard who is listed at 330 pounds and looks even bigger than that. (Early this month the Panthers signed another free-agent guard, Keydrick Vincent, a 325-pounder who will be referred to in offensive line meetings as “the skinny guy.”)

Brown was an unrestricted free agent who played all 16 games last year for the St. Louis Rams, starting nine at left guard, two at right guard and four at right tackle. A six-year veteran, Brown has also played for the Arizona Cardinals and Houston Texans.

The well-traveled Brown played two seasons of junior college football at East Mississippi and one season at Florida State before entering the 2002 supplemental draft, where the Texans chose him with a sixth-round pick.
