As teams selecting below the first few picks in next month’s draft likely are hoping that one or more of the rumors regarding the health of defensive tackle Glenn Dorsey will take sufficient root to allow his name to still be on the board when they get their turn to turn in a card, Dorsey disappointed them by churning out an impressive Pro Day workout on Wednesday, according to Frank Tadych of NFL.com.
Tadych says that Dorsey looked “slim” (which is sort of like someone calling Chris Farley “svelte”), at 297 pounds.
Dorsey reportedly ran the 40 in 5.13 and 5.15 seconds, managed 27 reps in the 225-pound bench press, and showed off a vertical leap of 25.5 inches.
“I feel great,” said Dorsey. “I feel like I came out and did well today, I gave it my all. They wanted to see what I had.”
“I saw Glenn Dorsey do what I expected him to do,”NFL Network draft analyst Mike Mayock said. “The most important thing for him was to just to show everybody that medically he’s OK. He was explosive and quick.”
With the NFL fully cognizant of the value of a strong defensive line, thanks to the Giants manhandling of the Patriots’ blockers in the playoffs, the rumors and whispers regarding Dorsey’s health likely won’t be enough to get him to slide. Though plenty of defensive tackles have been drafted in the upper echelon over the past decade, Dorsey arguably has generated the most buzz at the position since Warren Sapp in 1995.
And there likely were more than a few teams that regretted allowing rumors of a positive marijuana test to keep them from drafting Sapp, who fell to No. 12 before being picked by the Bucs.

“With the NFL fully cognizant of the value of a strong defensive line, thanks to the Giants manhandling of the Patriots’ blockers in the playoffs”
This is the most overblown statement that has came out of the Superbowl - pass rushing pressure really isn’t that new of a concept. I think what it really proved is that the slow/hobbled ankles of QBs can make a big impact on how your team react to a strong pass rush.

Too bad that even a new dope rumour from the Bucs won’t make him drop to no. 20…

Is Florio anti-Pats? Not that I care being a Browns fan, I dislike New England as much as anyone else not in the AFC East, but it seems like any story about Glenn Dorsey or Sedrick Ellis involves a snippet about how teams are looking to beef up their D-Lines after the Giants’ line manhandled the Patriots’ line in the Super Bowl.
I get that making a note about teams wanting to beef up their trenches, but a Patriot shot each time is making me wonder. But don’t take this as a complaint, I enjoy hearing about how the Patriots got dominated as much as the next guy. Just an observation.

He doesn’t drop out of the top 5. His Pro Day pretty much sealed that. He’ll be in NY to hear his name called in person.

With the 3rd pick in the 2008 NFL DRAFT…the Atlanta Falcons select
GLENN DORSEY
Lets make it happen…(if the draft happens to play out like this 1. MIA-J.Long, 2. STL-G.Dorsey) I don’t know what the Falcons would do…this in my opinion is our biggest nightmare…the draft playing out like that

Solid workout probably means he will be drafted by the Rams in the #2 spot. Word is, Rams see him as a Tommie Harris type who can make an immediate impact - which is important for the current Linehan regime as this is likely his last gasp to hold his job, hence the need for an immediate impact guy, not someone to be developed over time (and also pretty much assures the Rams would not trade out of #2 spot).
Rams greatest deficiency last year (other than offensive line decimated by injuries) was inability to pressure the QB. Dorsey, like Tommie Harris, has the ability to get pressure from up the middle, which some in the know will say is more disruptive than an edge rusher as the pressure is coming right in the QB’s face.
Rams were hoping he was healthy, he appears to be so, therefore I am betting on Dorsey being a Ram come draft day.

Yeah, I still think that Ellis could still wiggle in as the top DT taken, but Dorsey was obviously able to show that the leg injury isn’t as bad as what’s been portrayed here and by other media outlets. Now if KC loses out on Jake Long, they may have Dorsey as a fallback, which would be an awesome option to have.

I dont know if he is anit-Cheatriots or not. but it is more valid than ever that “the best team in the history of the nfl” lost because another team whipped their ass in the trenches. Decause the Pats got to bully bad teams in their division, they did what all bullies do. fold up when they get punched in the mouth. oh, i think i AM anti- pats

Good for Dorsey. It would have sucked for a talent like him to to get effed because of injury.

If Dorsey’s there at 3, the Falcons will take him. He’s exactly the kind of tough, hard-nosed anchor at DT that the Falcons have needed for a long, long time. He’s also a leader, which certainly can’t hurt if Dimitroff and Smith want to keep “changing the culture.”

And there likely was one team that regretted not allowing rumors of a positive marijuana test to keep them from drafting Charles Rogers, who stayed at No. 2 before being picked by the Lions.

Jake Long goes to St. Louis, Matt Ryan in Atlanta, which leaves KC a choice of Dorsey or Ellis.
If KC’s pick pans out they’ll have a dominant d-line for the first time in a very, very long time.

Marjax, that’s a crazy statement. I’m pretty sure Florio is usually accused of being pro Pats, though he’s received accusations on both sides. I think regarding the Pats, he covers them fairly, as almost anything. I’d say Florio might be unfair to, say, PastaBelly, and too good sometimes to people he clearly likes, like people at the booooooooring NFL network that people put on when they want to go to sleep, Peter King, Schefter, etc.
And EricTheClown, you know what, you don’t even have to put into quotations Best Team In NFL History. Quite simply, the best teams don’t always win. There is no doubt in my mind whatsoever that the ‘07 Pats team was the best team the NFL has ever had, except for maybe my ‘85 Bears haha. The Giants were barely in the top 5 of ‘07, but like said in another comment, Kudos to them; they won the Super Bowl, and deserved it. They showed why the D-line is vital.
As for Dorsey, I have put him at the top for defenders the whole time, never changing. He should definitely be taken by Miami, unless they want to move down. Of course, who the #1 overall player is and who should be taken first is Daren McFadden. Quite simply, unless you have a stud running back, you should not pass up on a guy like McFadden — ever.

I don’t see Atlanta taking Matt Ryan…New GM TD isn’t going to pick a QB with a top three pick when it appears there isn’t much seperation between the QB’s this year.
I anticipate Atlanta will have Brohm, Henne, or Flacco (and in the second round)
