The Philadelphia Eagles have announced that free-agent tight end/fullback/H-back Kris Wilson is visiting the team on Wednesday.
We expect an announcement to come later today that Wilson has agreed to terms. Not because of any inside information that we have, but because a pattern of late has developed in Philly. When the team sends out an official release that a player is visiting the NovaCare Complex, the release is typically followed by an announcement that a deal is done.
Wilson was drafted by the Chiefs in 2004. He played college football at Pitt, and is from Harrisburg. He would likely help out considerably at fullback, given that the departure of Thomas Tapeh to the Vikings has been addressed only via the acquisition of Dan Klecko, whom the Eagles plan to convert from his prior position of defensive tackle.

If they pick him up, it’ll be a good move for the Eagles. He’s versatile, can block, catch and was willing to move from TE to FB for the Chiefs, without so much as a peep.
He won’t win you a championship on his own but he is the kind of character guy you want in your locker room when you’re looking to build a champion.

I don’t think this is one of the 2 or 3 “weapons” that Donny Mc was asking for. Usually when a player asks for weapons they dont go out and sign a DT to play fullback and then a TE to also play fullback.
Hopefully they know something that I don’t.

Nothing is more exciting than his patented- “Swing pass right… caught by Wilson… dropped for a loss” or his spectacular- “Swing pass left… caught by Wilson… he lunges ahead for a gain of one, maybe two yards!”

coff the offseason isn’t over. Wait til the draft. In free agency you get overpaid veterans. The draft is where you get young, cheap talent.
If Kris Wilson is a good blocker than that is enough. He’s not being signed to catch hail-marys.

Spare us your sarcasm. The off-season isn’t just about going out and getting elite wide receivers. In case everyone has forgotten, the Eagles were awful on special teams and at the goalline last season. Signings like Bam Childress, Dan Klecko, Rocky Boiman, and now Kris Wilson may not be flashy, but they are clearly trying to address more than the fans’ appetite for for flashy players.

With the signing first of Dan Klecko and now Kris Wilson, PTF keeps making the assertion that they are the only people involved in the battle for the fullback position in Philly. Heck, when Klecko signed you proclaimed him the starter. Please keep in mind that we also Have Jason Davis who spent the past two years in the system, last year on the practice squad, who very well could beat out Klecko and Wilson who are not promised a roster spot considering they each signed very short term deals. I’m not saying that any three of those names are huge, exciting names, but how many fullbacks are?? Name me five that started in the league last year …
