Who says we don’t post any stories about long snappers?
In Green Bay, the guy who has been spinning the ball between his legs for 11 years is calling it quits.
But Rob Davis isn’t leaving the organization. Instead, he has been hired to serve as the team’s director of player development.
Davis played in 167 games with the team, third all-time behind Brett Favre and Forrest Gregg.

I know he’s just a long snapper, but Rob Davis was just the quality kind of guy you need in the locker room. And except for that December Bears game, he had been a pretty consistent football player too. The Packers are getting even younger as the days go by.

Good for him. Other than William Henderson, he’s one of the most under-rated players in recent Packers history.

Not only was he nearly perfect on snaps, but he was always one of the first guys down the field for the tackle on punts. Such a hard worker.

Gee, from the title of the article, I thought this was about Charger’s long-snapper David Binn’s relationship with Pamela Anderson… ;0)

Rob Davis has pretty much been operating in a player development capacity for several years. He’s one of the most respected voices in the locker room because of his NFL experience, tenure with the Packers, and his efforts to outside of the locker room to make players feel welcome. In fact, he was often the representative other players turned to when they wanted to voice their concerns to management.
Those lamenting this “loss” should realize that this transition has been in the works for some time and that it is something that Rob Davis embraces. Ted Thompson isn’t gutting the team of vetrans and just happens to be offerring this one a consolation prize — the Packers all but begged Rob Davis to hang around the last few years.
As someone mentioned above: good for Rob. He’s undoubtedly taking a paycut, but I think he’ll make the kind of seemless transition that Edgar Bennett and LeRoy Butler have.
