The Seattle Seahawks have engaged in another transaction . . . and it’s still not the release of 2005 NFL MVP Shaun Alexander.

This time, the ‘Hawks have inked cornerback Marcus Trufant to a long-term deal.

Per a league source, Trufant agreed early Wednesday to a six-year contract worth $50.2 million.  The deal includes $20 million in guaranteed money, and will pay $28 million over the first three years and $34 million over the first four.

The deal also includes a $3 million 2010 roster bonus that is guaranteed for skill and injury, which as a practical matter makes the first three years — and the $28 million that comes with it — guaranteed.

Trufant had been given the franchise tag in February.  Of the 12 franchise players in 2008, Trufant is the second to sign a long-term deal with his original team.  The first was Colts tight end Dallas Clark.
