Linebacker Clark Haggans was expected to find some moderate demand in free agency. Though on the wrong side of 30, he had been an effective player of late in the Steelers’ 3-4 system.
But it didn’t happen. He languished on the shelf like a tub of licorice-flavored yogurt, drawing only a visit to the Cleveland Browns and an eventual concession that he might have to return to the Steelers even though his agent had declared that he was outtahere (partially due to the fact that his agent also represents Haggans’ backup).
And, in the end, he is outtathere. Per Adam Schefter of NFL Network, Haggans has agreed to terms with the Arizona Cardinals. It’s a one-year deal, of unknown terms. Surely, Haggans didn’t cash in.
In Arizona, Haggans will be reunited with former Steelers assistants Ken Whisenhunt and Russ Grimm.
The move might have come earlier, but we’re told that the Cardinals were only $100,000 under the salary cap prior to the formal extension of receiver Larry Fitzgerald’s contract.

“…return to the Steelers even though his agent had declared that he was outtahere (partially due to the fact that his agent also represents Haggans’ backup).”
Makes me wonder why some of these players drink the kool-aid from their agents when it seems that the agent is working more for two players than the player who is affected by this. It’s almost like a conflict of interest.

They might be lucky they didn’t have the $ to give him more … before he lowered his expectations.

I really like this move, and I think the Cards will be a formidable team this year with Kenny Wiz in his second year.
OK here it goes, my annual prediction that Arizona will turn it around and make the playoffs… Hey if I keep predicting it every year it’s bound to happen sometime.
