With a new swath of cap space thanks to Larry Fitzgerald ridiculously-delayed contract extension, the Arizona Cardinals are doing a little football bidness. As we mentioned earlier in the day, the team had only $100,000 in wiggle room before Fitz’s new deal was finally signed.
The Cardinals have just announced that new deals have been reached with four of their own free agents: receiver Ahmad Merritt, defensive end Bo Schobel, defensive end Joe Tafoya, and receiver Jerheme Urban.
Merritt and Schobel signed one-year contracts; Tafoya and Urban inked two-year deals.
The team also announced that restricted free agent Elton Brown, an offensive lineman, has signed his one-year tender.
They have not yet announced the addition of linebacker Clark Haggans, however. Some teams hold off on formally announcing such deals until they have the signed contract in their hands. Adam Schefter of NFL Network reported earlier today that Haggans has agreed to terms with the Cardinals on a one-year deal.

What would they have done if Fitzgerald had said no to restructuring? Would they have cut him?

They still don’t have that much cap room. After there draft pick they can get much talent. There D is going to stink.

The Cards D will be way better. moving Antrel Rolle to FS and the return of Okeafor, Wilson, and Berry will make the defense the best in the west.
