Armando Salguero of the Miami Herald reports, not for the Miami Herald but for its online blog (which apparently is like the journalistic kiddie table of the operation), that the Jacksonville Jaguars are rumored to be interested in Dolphins defensive end Jason Taylor.
Writes Salguero, “[T]he whispers have not risen to the level of actually writing about it in The Herald yet. But they are credible enough to be on this blog.”
So with newspapers facing ever-shrinking circulations as more and more people get their news and information in real time on their computers and other Internet-enabled devices, publications like The Herald are playing “if we can’t beat ‘em by acting like we’re better than them, let’s join ‘em . . . and continue to act like we’re better than them.”
For Salguero, it’s the best of both worlds. He can say that he broke the story if the Jags ultimately make a play for Taylor, but he hasn’t had to sully the reputation of his fish wrap by printing (God forbid) rumors and/or informed speculation on it.

As a Dolphin fan, I have mixed feelings about trading JT, same as I did about cutting Zach Thomas. However, I think it is very possible for the Dolphins to be a contender in 3 years, and I think JT’s got about 3 years of excellent play, and 4-5 years of above-average play (unlike Zach, who I think is done).
Also, I like how Florio took a story about Jason Taylor and turned it into a story about himself! Nice move!

I’m so glad to see Mando ripped a little bit. As a Dolphin fan, I read his blog pretty often, and 9/10 times I’m ticked at him when I get through. I’ve never seen a local sports writer rip a team like he does, and you can tell how highly he regards himself in every post.

Fish wrapper is too kind for the Miami Herald sports section. The Sun Sentinel is the way to go in South Florida. But this is another Ocho Cinco situation, just without the drama. JT is under contract and Parcells is pulling the strings. If I’m not mistaken, he’s the only Pro Bowler left on that roster. I’d love to see it happen, but I’m not holding my breath until something more credible surfaces. This is still just smoke.

The Jags will win the super bowl w/in the next 3 years and JT has about 3 or 4 good years left. The Jags need to make the trade b/c we need a pro bowl level pass rusher on our D line in order to have a chance at becoming world champions for the first time here in Jacksonville!
