We knew there was more to the bizarre Brandon “I’ll Say I Slipped On A McDonald’s Bag Because No One Will Believe I Slipped On A Banana Peel” Marshall story.
And indeed there is.
According to Adam Schefter of NFL Network, Marshall seriously screwed up his right arm when he supposedly slipped on a paper bag from McDonald’s and crashed his arm into a television entertainment center.
As it turns out, Marshall didn’t slip on a bag. Per Schefter, Marshall admitted to the team that he was wrestling with family members when the incident occurred.
Maybe coach Mike Shanahan suggested that Marshall’s version of the events would be subjected to a polygraph test, and that Marshall opted not to try to beat the machine.

why lie about wrestling with family members? it’s not like he was out riding a motorcycle at 800 mph or snorting blow off a hookers backside or something crazy like that - he was horsing around with his family, something almost all of us have done (and still do, from time to time). whoop de freaking do.

yet another casualty of the living-room olympics. I hope he had an insurance policy to cover this sort of thing.

I hear that the WWF are setting up rings with television entertainment centers in all four corners. Possible bookings are the Jonas Brothers, the Righteous Brothers and the Partidge Family…

It’s so idiotic to lie about something like that. Most likely, Brandon Marshall was embarrassed and thought he would be in big trouble. Well, he’s in big trouble all right — not because of his dumb lie, or because he wrestled with family members … but because he is truly hurt. Hopefully this guy heals. It’s extremely unfortunate.

Looks like a cover story now. 2 days later, and we are suppose to believe the “wrestling with family” story now?
I know some of these players are idiots, but do THEY expect ALL of US to be idiots?
please.

Maybe it was actually a fight and not wrestling.

Yeah well… Maybe he lied about it cuz he was wrestling with family members the way ‘2 Touchdown’ Cedric Wilson and Jimmy ‘Razorback’ Harrison were ‘wrestling’ with their family members.

Was it a voluntary wrestling match with a family member? Or is this the new euphemism for domestic violence?

I would say this is the truth. Just like Ben Roethlisberger’s motor cycle accident, the nature of how the injury occurs determines whether your contract remains valid or if the team has the rigth to try and rescind your guaranteed money. A slip and fall is accidental. He willingly engaged in this wrestling match and therefore is liable for his own actions.

Him coming clean with the wrestling story is just his way of covering up the real events that involved him being wasted. Didn’t he get a DUI this past year?? I just wish one of these athletes with “freak” injuries would come out and say “I was drinking, I was wasted, and I don’t really remember what happened”.

Maybe Cedrick Wilson shouldn’t have been kicked off of the team. After all, he was just wrestling with his girlfriend.Ppppfffftttt. C’mon Brandon. Two stories only creates suspicion. Dumb move.

Now people are getting too suspicious and cynical. The slipping on the bag story was ridiculous, as Florio pointed out right away. But I do believe the wrestling story. Call it intuition.

As if Shanahan didn’t have enough trouble picking out the colors for his “wine residence.” Now he has to deal with this.

We’ve all done dumbass things… is it less embarrassing to say you slipped on a McDonalds bag or that your little brother/cousin/aunt beat you at living room wrestling and put you through the TV? Either way he should have just said ‘an accident in the home’ and then ‘no comment’
