The Giants were definitely better without him, but I don't think any of their current TE's will give them plays where he gets his helmet knocked off and still tries to plow through 2 or 3 defenders. He's a good player who's just a douchebag. I'm actually torn on this though. Do I want him out of my division? Or do I want him holding Eli Manning back and being a constant cancer for his team? That correlation is there, but I don't buy it. There's no way the presence of Shockey can hurt any quarterback, though he ought to improve his antics -- and fast. Saying that, let's say that the majority is correct in its assertion, which includes Florio. Given that, isn't Eli able to be THE man now, no matter what? He can tell Shockey to shut the *beep* up if he wants. I do not find it smart to simply get rid of Shockey, especially when the Giants aren't even Super Bowl favorites.
