"...the only time [Favre will] ever wear a tie is when he’s laying in a casket."

First, that's morbid.

Secondly, I at least hope the tie will not clash with his Packers' jersey.

Favre does nothing but sit in the background. Cannot seem him doing any type of TV stuff except for commercials.

Thanks for the Mr Obvious portion of these posts... great talent on the field does not turn into good TV talent... once again, thanks Emmitt.

While I don't think he'd be one of the greats in the booth or on a set with a guy like Berman....if Mr. Coke and Hookers can swing it, I'm sure a guy like Favre can master it....if he wanted too. Good luck getting a suit on him.

Just look at his acting role in "Something About Mary"!

agree he was hardly underpaid, made 10 mil this year and would make 12 next, arguably he was dramatically overpaid for the three years prior to this.

I just don't see him being a natural or having much ability for journalism. I don't know how he would do if people didn't just sit around and kiss his ass, and he doesn't seem to be particularly eloquent or incisive.

He should learn from Michael Jordan's failures after he retired, to just stay in the background and not be heard.

If he were as bad at television as Jerry Rice is at radio, people would be terrified.

I love Brett. As a Packers fan who lived through the 70s and 80s, I'll miss him very much on the field. But now that he's retired, I kind of just wish he'd go away...

Reading the 'comfortable in Wranglers' comment reminded me of some thing that really bugged me about that add. I also wonder how many others noticed or if I need to get a hobby. In the beginning of that add, Brett Favre is shown from the side; stepping back in the 'pocket' and releasing a pass. If you visualize the trajectory of that football leaving his hand it darn near goes straight up. LOL Has anybody else caught that? He seems to have good protection in the pocket, so what gives?LOL (That commercial was filmed way before the NFC championship so we know he was not throwing to say... a NYG.)

I remember an interview Madden did with Favre a few years ago and Favre was joking about being joining Madden in the booth and replacing Al. But Al definately would be a good buffer zone so Madden could keep hands to himself.

The bowflex performance was pretty terrible. But he was decent in his recent Rayovac commercial.

Put him in the MNF booth. ANYONE would be better than Tony K, who I like on PTI but is awful on MNF.

He was going to get paid $12 MIL this year. I wouldn't say that's grossly underpaid.

No way he wears a suit on TV. Maybe a sweater with a collared shirt underneath.

I think he could provide some entertainment in a booth as part of a three man team but I just have the feeling that all we are going to see or hear from is the very occasional Packer appearance, at least for the next five years.

Yeah, you know, a 10 year, $100 million dollar contract in which Favre signed in 2001 and played 7 years of is being woefully underpaid. He's one of only 7 guys in the NFL to have a $100 million dollar contract. I would say ten million bucks a year and only 3 playoff wins in that span (3-5 in playoffs from 2001 to 2007) is pretty nice compensation. Brady won as many superbowls as Favre won playoff games in that span. I am not a Brady fan at all, but Brady is not in the $100 million dollar club, so I don't see how Favre is woefully underpaid for his work, which is/clearly not up to the tip top level anymore. However, he's one of the top seven guys EVER with a $100 million dollar contract, so I just don't see how he was underpaid by todays standards. (If you could ever call $100 million underpaid)

Favre was fun to watch and it was great to see the clips of him telling football stories. I don't, however, think he would be good in the booth, nor would he want to be in the booth. I think he wants to take some time off and spend it with his family and play some backyard football and bbq with his buds as in his infamous Wranglers commercial.

I hope that Favre doesn't become a commentator or anything. I'd rather the guy just take it easy with his family, rather than become one of the many ex-player jack-a$$es like Marino and the like.

Favre worked under a nine year old contract without complaining or asking for better. He was woefully underpaid by today's standards... let him 'cash in' while he can.

Maybe a few years in the booth will get Brett ready for his next career move, which is of course taking over for Millen as Lions GM.

Why would he be a natural? I don't get Florio's presumption.

We never know with any of the ex-jocks how honest they are going to be or willing to criticize players they played with or against. Also, would Favre ever criticize a pass as stupid considering all of the really stupid plays he's made in his career? The best players don't always make the best tv guys.

He recently signed on as a spokesman for Remmington Arms; that was recently shot. I know he is also endorsing lawn tractors - that might also be recent.

Either way, I can't see him in a booth for a while....unless it's with Fox, or NFL Network with Mooch.
