Bengals defensive coordinator Mike Zimmer attended the Florida Pro Day workout, presumably to check out defensive end Derrick Harvey.
Former Packers G.M. Ron Wolf says that playing quarterback is “tougher than the dickens,” which probably is the least tough way anyone ever has tried to describe something that’s tough.
Newly-signed Bengals TE Ben Utecht won’t be attending the launch of the offseason condition program on Monday.
At least one team had former Browns RB William Green clocked at 4.82 in the 40 when he ran for scouts this week.
The Big Show’s next stop after leaving Seattle could be a Tuna-type role with another team.
The Chicago Tribune has gotten its mitts on the Wonderlic scores, closely guarded in the wake of Vince Young’s 6-pack in 2006.
Saints WR Robert Meachem is using the fact that he was a bust as a rookie as motivation not to be a bust in his second year.
Fallen NFL QB Art Schlicter is trying to help others avoid the gambling problems that ruined his life.
Army S Caleb Campbell will be excused from his five-year service commitment if he gets drafted in the non-military sense.
Kansas CB Aqib Talib improved his times in the 40 during his Pro Day workout.
Jags QB David Garrard wants his long-term deal to be in the same ballpark as Tony Romo’s.
Could the supposed financial problems that teams like the Broncos are experiencing be partially intended to make efforts to reel in the players’ piece of the pie seem more about necessity and less about greed?

Here’s what I want to know.
How many of the teams are taking the revenue from “suites” and funneling the money into corporations controlled by the owners ?
(I know for a fact the Dolphins and Cowboys do)
Seems to me the owners are playing games.

As far as the Dolphins are concerned the “suite” revenue is used to pay down the stadium debt, as it has been from day one that Joe Robbie built this stadium with ZERO public money.

If you look up ‘almost great’ in the dictionary, you’ll see a photo of Mike Holmgren. He’s always done fairly well but never really did anything except consistently coach pretty good teams. There’s no revolutionary genius there, just pretty good execution of an already pretty good offense.

Well i tend to disagree as far as Dolphin Stadium is concerned:
History
Entering its 21st year of operation, Dolphin Stadium, originally known as Joe Robbie Stadium, was the first of its kind to be constructed entirely with private funds. The late Joe Robbie led the financing campaign to build “Joe Robbie Stadium”(JRS) for the Miami Dolphins of the National Football League (NFL). JRS revolutionized the economics of professional sports when it opened in 1987. Inclusion of a Club Level, along with Executive Suites, helped to finance the construction of the stadium. Season ticket holders committed to long-term agreements and in return they received first-class amenities in a state-of-the-art facility which is still used as a model for new facilities across the country

The fact that David Garrard can even discuss getting Romo money really confuses me. The rationale behind determining the “value” of a player in dollars seems undefined and highly subjective at best. To see the money the Raiders paid Tommy Kelly or what an unproven rookie gets based on his draft position shows that there is a sick game played by agents and owners. It obviously is benefiting both sides because they not only continue it, they dramatically raise the stakes at every turn. Does the NFL economy risk inflation the same way the “real” economy does?

But then the Robbie family lost the stadium and the team because there was no succession plan in place when he died and his kids got hit with a tax bill that was at least 25% of the value of both. Huizenga is a shrewd business man who has proven he knows nothing about football (enter Parcells). It wouldn’t shock me to see him playing with the Suite Money to better position himself.

“The dickens” is a euphemism for the Devil. It’s very much in the same style as deuce, as in old oaths like what the deuce! which contains another name for the Devil. So, I suppose that could qualify as tough. Just because it’s not “hip” doesn’t make it less meaningful.
